The UCLA Bruins (16-16, 10-10 Pac-12) match up with the Oregon Ducks (20-11, 12-8) in the Pac-12 tournament quarterfinals Thursday. These two matched up twice this year, with each winning on their home floor. Now we get the deciding third game in Vegas to see who moves on to the Semi-finals.
Both teams are limping into this tournament. But a win for either here will get some much-needed momentum, and put them just 2 wins away from stealing a spot in the NCAA tournament.
Will UCLA’s stifling defense get the job done or will the Oregon Ducks be able to outlast the Bruins in their last matchup ever as members of the Pac-12?

Key Stats
UCLA Bruins
Coming off a 2022-23 Pac-12 regular season championship, The UCLA Bruins were one of the favorites to win the conference yet again. However, they have not been able to fill the shoes of Jaime Jaquez Jr and Tyger Campbell after their departures last season. They hope to still match up against this Oregon Ducks team.
UCLA really struggles to score, but their top-ranked defense in the conference can keep them in most games. Forward Adem Bona was just named Pac-12 defensive player of the year and has been a rock for them. They need to have good performances from their backcourt, and they did yesterday with Dylan Andrews dropping 31 points. He has to keep stepping up if they want to make any noise here in March.
Oregon Ducks
The Oregon Ducks once again have one of the more talented rosters on paper in the Pac-12. Unfortunately for the Ducks, they have been snake-bitten with injuries. As a Duck alum myself, it’s starting to feel like an annual tradition for Oregon to be missing 4-5 key players with injuries. Somehow, they still won 20 games, but in a down year for the Pac-12, it won’t be enough to get an at-large bid to the big dance.
These Oregon Ducks still have the pieces to make a run. Senior center N’faly Dante has been the face of this Duck team for the last 3 years and just made the Pac-12 team for the 2nd year in a row. The biggest bright spot this season for Oregon has been the emergence of freshman guard Jackson Shelstad. We’ll see if coach Dana Altman can get the Ducks rolling before the 2023-24 campaign is over.
Game Prediction
The UCLA Bruins are going to do everything in their power to muck this game up. They do not want to get into a track meet with Oregon, as they don’t have the consistent scoring to win a game like that. Expect UCLA to play in the half-court set most of the game and use a lot of the shot clock. Oregon won’t want to let UCLA dictate tempo so I can see them opening up the game by rushing shots. UCLA keeps it close in a low-scoring game early, but the Oregon Ducks settle in during the second half and cover in a low-scoring game.
Final Pick
Oregon Ducks -3.5 and Under 128.5
