New York Giants

The New York Giants are coming off a beatdown loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, 28-3. Daniel Jones was under duress all game long. He was sacked seven times and completed 14 of 21 passes for 99 yards. It was just a beatdown. Malik Nabers had four catches 0n eight targets for 41 yards. This offense only generated 119 yards of offense in this game, which is terrible in today’s NFL. On the season, they are 30th in points per game, 23rd in passing yards per game, 25th in rushing yards per game, 29th in offensive touchdowns, 29th in yards per play, and 21st in turnovers per game.

The Giant’s defense has been very underrated this season. They rank 12th in points allowed per game, 6th in passing yards allowed per game, 25th in rushing yards allowed per game, 13th in offensive touchdowns allowed, 1st in sacks, and 22nd in takeaways per game. Led by Dexter Lawrence, who leads the NFL in sacks with nine, they are going against a team that will continuously run the ball if you allow them. If the Giants are going to win this game, it starts with stopping the damage done on the ground by Najee Harris.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off a dominating win last week against the New York Jets, 37-15. Last week was Russell Wilson‘s season debut and he was excellent. He completed 16 of 29 passes for 264 yards and three total touchdowns, two passing and one rushing. Najee Harris had an exceptional game as well with 21 rushes for 102 yards and a touchdown. Finally, George Pickens was unleashed in this game, catching five passes on nine targets for 111 yards and one touchdown. If Wilson can play close to this level, the Pittsburgh Steelers will be one of the teams to beat in the AFC.

The Steelers’ defense has been one of the best defenses in the NFL. They rank 2nd in points allowed per game, 22nd in passing yards allowed per game, 3rd in rushing yards allowed per game, 4th in offensive touchdowns allowed, 20th in sacks, and 4th in takeaways per game. Led by TJ Watt, who leads the team in sacks with 4.5, with star left tackle Andrew Thomas out, this should be a unit that wins this game almost singlehandedly. This unit hasn’t allowed more than 20 points in the last three games and I expect it to continue.

Prediction

The Pittsburgh Steelers are going to dominate the New York Giants in this game and cover the spread. If the Steelers score 21 points, that might be enough to cover it. Pittsburgh’s defense has been out of this world this season and despite the slow start, Russell Wilson showed that he might have more left in the take than we thought. He pushed the ball down the field which opened up the running game with Najee. The struggle of the Giants’ defense is stopping the run and Harris is coming off two really good games. Steelers cruise to a double-digit win and move on to 6-2 on the season.

Final Pick

Pittsburgh Steelers -6.5 (-102)
