Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are coming off a game in which they destroyed the Philadelphia Eagles. They defeated the Eagles 33-16 last Sunday. For the Bucs, we saw Baker Mayfield light up the Eagles. Mayfield completed 30 of 47 passes for 347 yards and two touchdowns. Mike Evans looked like the old Mike Evans, catching eight passes for 94 yards and a touchdown. Bucky Irving had his best game as a rookie with ten rushes for 49 yards and a touchdown. If the Buccaneers can continue to look close to how they looked last Sunday, they will be a tough team to beat in the NFC.

Defensively, they were lights out. Holding Jalen Hurts to 18 of 30 passing for only 158 yards and a touchdown. Outside of a 59-yard run, they held Saquon Barkley to nine rushes for 25 yards. Tampa’s defense sacked Hurts six times and hit him another half dozen times as well. They also forced two fumbles and recovered them as well. This was a defense that have been decimated with injuries in the secondary but when they get healthy, this team could be a tough out for any team in the NFC.

Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons are coming off beating their divisional rival New Orleans Saints off a game-winning 58-yard field goal by Younghoo Koo. Kirk Cousins was okay, only completing 21 of his 35 passes for 238 yards and one interception. Atlanta defeated the Saints without scoring an offensive touchdown. Their touchdowns came from a punt return by KhaDarel Hodge and a Troy Anderson 47-yard pick-six. Bijan Robinson only received seven of the 15 carries for 28 yards while Tyler Allgeier led the team in rushing yards with 60 on eight carries.

Defensively, they did enough to get the win. The Atlanta Falcons’ defense had the pick six which was a massive play that ended up being one of the big reasons they won the game. They allowed Alvin Kamara to go for 119 yards from scrimmage, 19 carries for 77 rushing yards, and seven catches for 42 yards. The receiving pair of Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed combined for 16 catches for 170 yards. We know what the Bucs have in Evans and Godwin. If Atlanta is going to win and take the lead in the division, they need to do a better job this week in the passing game.

Prediction

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are going to defeat the Atlanta Falcons in this game. Although Atlanta won last week despite not scoring a touchdown, this Tampa is coming off a heater against the Eagles. I understand it was without both Philly starting receivers, but we saw what the Saints’ receivers did to a Falcons secondary that is above average. I believe Tampa will limit the damage Bijan Robinson can do on the ground like they did against Saquon Barkley and it will force the Falcons into a drop-back game and see if Kirk can beat them. Baker continues to ride his hot hand and the Bucs stay in first place in the NFC South.

Final Pick

Tampa Bay Buccaneers ML (+110)
