Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Boston Celtics Preview, Prediction, and Odds | May 11, 2024

Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cleveland Cavaliers(1-1) are at home for the first time this series in Game 3 against the Boston Celtics(1-1).

Surprisingly, this series is tied up 1-1 heading into Cleveland. The Cavaliers were able to steal a game on the road, and they did so convincingly. Game 2 was a decisive 24-point victory. Boston shot poorly that game, going 41.3% from the field and 22.9% from three.

Will the Celtics shooting struggles carry over to Game 3, or will they bounce back and beat the Cavs on their home court?

Key Stats

Cleveland Cavaliers

Back at home, Cleveland needs a repeat of their Game 2 performance if they want to beat the number one seed Celtics again. In Game 2, the Cavaliers played very well-rounded. All five starters had double-digit points, and Caris LeVert had 21 points off the bench. Evan Mobley in particular was a big factor. He took 15 shots and scored 21 points.

Boston Celtics

The Celtics have had moments like Game 2 before this playoffs. In Game 2 vs Miami, they also shot terribly and lost to a team they should not have. To get back on track, Boston needs their superstar, Jayson Tatum, to step up. He shot a combined 14-36 from the field and an abysmal 2-10 from three in Game 1 and Game 2. In the regular season, he averaged 26.9 points on 47.1% shooting.

Game Prediction

The Cavaliers won Game 2 despite being double-digit underdogs in both of the first two games. They are now 7.5-point underdogs at home. There are going to be close games in this series. Not all of them are going to be big Celtics wins. Even though I don’t expect Boston to shoot as poorly as they did in game 2 again tonight, the Cavs still won by 24, so they have some breathing room.

Without Kristaps Porzingis on the court, the Celtics are struggling to guard Evan Mobley, and he finally figured that out in Game 2. Not only that but if Caris LeVert can provide points off the bench again, I really like this Cleveland team’s chances of keeping it close.

Final Pick

Cleveland Cavaliers +7.5 (-108)
