It is never too early for some 2024 Heisman Trophy odds. While teams are still finalizing their rosters due to the massive number of players in the transfer portal, we have a good idea of which players will compete for the trophy. Let’s look at the 2024 Heisman Trophy odds, according to FanDuel.
2024 Heisman Trophy Odds: The Favorites
There is a tie at the top. Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers and Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck have the best odds at +750. It is easy to see why these are the favorites. Ewers comes back for another season and has plenty of offensive weapons at his disposal, thanks to the transfer portal. Texas is looking to get back to the College Football Playoff and will have an offense that puts up a lot of points.
Beck is on a Georgia team eager to retake the SEC conference. After losing to Alabama in the SEC championship game, the Bulldogs had to settle for a New Year’s Six game. They took their anger out on Florida State. If they can carry over that passion to the 2024 season, the Bulldogs will be scary to play. Beck will have the high-profile matchups and the roster to put up big numbers.
2024 Heisman Trophy Odds: The Second Tier
There are three players in this next tier of the 2024 Heisman Trophy odds. Oregon Ducks quarterback Dillon Gabriel sits at +1000, while Ohio State quarterback Will Howard and Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe sit at +1200. Gabriel joins Dan Lanning at Oregon, where the offense is easy to come by. Gabriel showed he could put up big numbers during his time with the Sooners. With the Ducks moving to the Big Ten, there is no shortage of high-profile matchups for Gabriel to get national attention.
The other two come with big question marks. Howard has plenty of weapons at Ohio State, but that doesn’t mean the offense will dominate. The program had a ton of talent on the roster last season and couldn’t put a great offense on the field. For Milroe, the question isn’t about him but what the Crimson Tide will look like in 2024. Nick Saban is gone, and Kalen DeBoer is now the coach. There has been a huge amount of roster turnover, and if Alabama struggles, Milroe will fall out of the conversation.
The Value Picks
All of the following players are decent value in terms of betting. They are long shots, but there is a world where they could play themselves into the Heisman Trophy conversation.
- Tennessee Volunteers QB Nico Iamaleava (+1500)
- LSU Tigers QB Garrett Nussmeier (+1800)
- Oklahoma Sooners QB Jackson Arnold (+1800)
- Ole Miss Rebels QB Jaxson Dart (+1800)
- Arizona Wildcats QB Noah Fifita (+2000)
- Texas A&M Aggies QB Conner Weigman (+2000)
- Notre Dame Fighting Irish QB Riley Leonard (+2000)
- Miami Hurricanes Cam Ward (+2000)
- Florida State Seminoles DJ Uiagalelei (+2500)
- Clemson Tigers QB Cade Klubnik (+3000)
- Missouri Tigers QB Brady Cook (+3000)
There are a couple of players I like the 2024 Heisman Trophy odds on. Cam Ward was one of the hottest names in the transfer portal, and the Hurricanes nabbed him. If Miami wins the ACC thanks to the play of Ward, the narrative around him could propel him to a Heisman finalist appearance. DJ Uiagalelei heads to Florida State, who will also be on a mission to show the nation they are a top team. If the Seminoles run the table again behind Uiagalelei, he may get a Heisman finalist nod.
A Semi-Crazy Bet
As with any odds, there is a fine line between good value and an absolute prayer. Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders is +4000 in the 2024 Heisman Trophy odds. This is a little too long to call it a value bet, but Colorado is an unknown for 2024. This season started off hot, but the team lost eight of their last nine games to finish 4-8. Head coach Deion Sanders completely remade the roster and promises greatness from this team. However, there is a world where they struggle again, and this bet has no chance three weeks into the season.
The 2024 Heisman Trophy odds will continue to shift as players commit to programs. However, while the odds will change, this group of players probably won’t. With the amount of talent in college football, the Heisman Trophy race in 2024 will be fun to watch.
