Utah Jazz vs Atlanta Hawks Preview, Predictions and Odds| February 27 2024

Utah Jazz

The Utah Jazz (27-31) travel to the Atlanta Hawks (25-32) on Tuesday night. Although both sides are coming off a win, they are looking to get closer to .500 play. However, the hosts are coming off a more impressive win. They defeated a good Orlando Magic team by 17 points.
Conversely, the visitors defeated an overall underwhelming San Antonio Spurs team at home. As this is the first regular-season matchup between these two sides, there isn’t a prior game to go off. But this game has a lot of meaning for both sides. They know wins will be hard to come by, therefore they are going to go all-out to ensure a win for their side.

But which side of the line should you consider taking for this matchup?

Utah Jazz

Utah needs to win tonight. Although they beat the San Antonio Spurs, it’ll take more than that to turn the last part of the season around. But as mentioned, the performance needs to go up. They’ve lost two of their last three games at home. While that includes a two-point loss to the Toronto Raptors, a larger deficit to the Chicago Bulls looked bad. But there’s plenty of reason to hope for a late-season push with this Utah Jazz side.

Notably, Lauri Markkanen averages 23.4 points per night. He poses matchup issues and a lot of the offense flows through him in the half-court setting. Additionally, Jordan Clarkson continues to make a big impact off the bench. he scored 22 points in the victory against the Spurs. Otto Porter Jr. remains away from the team and will not play today for the Utah Jazz. Finally, John Collins gives the frontcourt depth and scoring. He’s someone to look to against the Atlanta Hawks.

Atlanta Hawks (Averages)

Field Goal Efficiency: 43.6/93.7 for 46.5%

Three-Pont Efficiency: 13.7/38.0 for 36.0%

Field Goal Efficiency Against: 45.8/91.6 for 50.0%

Three-Point Efficiency Against: 14.0/36.3 for 38.7%

Free Throw Efficiency Against: 17.6/22.4 for 78.5%

Rebounds Against: 11.2 Offensive, 33.6 Defensive, 44.9 Combined

Atlanta remains one of the more concerning teams in the league. While they have talent, most would not pick them or describe them as a team with a bright future. While they played well against the Magic, tonight against the Utah Jazz is something of a must-win. They sit with 25 wins and there won’t be many more chances to bridge the losing record gap.

Trae Young is out until around April. Especially as he had hand surgery, others will have a chance to earn their roster spot for next year. It will either be for this team, or tonight’s game against the Utah Jazz is another chance to put on tape for other prospective teams. Although they are considering moving on from Dejounte Murray, he’s the best overall player on their roster. While he’s a defense-first guy, he could have a big scoring outburst against the Utah Jazz.

Game Prediction

This game will allow the Utah Jazz to get back on track. Although both sides have losing records, the inner troubles with the Hawks are too much to overlook tonight. While they beat the Orlando Magic, that might be their last win for at least a couple of games. Furthermore, I like the visitors to win outright tonight. Even as underdogs, they should be able to get the job done.

Additionally, 236 is too high. But the Hawks have a perimeter defender as their best scoring option. Even though the away side needs to improve defensively, I’m expecting the Hawks to make that side of the ball look better than what it is. Therefore, the under is the play to make here between the Atlanta Hawks and Utah Jazz.
