Toronto Raptors vs Charlotte Hornets Preview, Predictions and Odds| March 3 2024

Toronto Raptors vs Charlotte Hornets

The Toronto Raptors (22-38) host the Charlotte Hornets (15-45) in a Sunday matchup. However, while the Raptors would like to defend home court, there is troubling injury news. Additionally, the Hornets beat the Raptors earlier in the season, but since then, the Raptors have won the last two head-to-head games. Additionally, Toronto has won three out of the last five games, but they are on a two-game losing streak.

Conversely, the Hornets have lost four of their last five games after looking like they had turned something of a page. Moreover, their last win came against a bad Portland Trail Blazers team. But as mentioned, there are some aspects up in the air for today.

So do you see the Raptors sending the Hornets back to Charlotte with the loss, or will they lose a third straight game in a row?

Key Stats

Toronto Raptors

Scottie Barnes is expected to miss at least a month due to his hand injury. Additionally, Bruce Brown is questionable with a knee injury for the Toronto Raptors today. But against the Charlotte Hornets, they will look to RJ Barrett. Barrett led the team in scoring against the Golden State Warriors with 23 points. But he received a nice boost off the bench from Kelly Olynyk, who pitched in 16 points. However, either Scottie Barnes or Immanuel Quickly needs to up their scoring today for the Toronto Raptors. Additionally, Jakob Poeltl is always good for a double-double and needs to secure the boards again today. Poeltl averages 8.7 rebounds per game.

Charlotte Hornets

Charlotte Hornets

Charlotte has lost three games in a row, including twice to the Milwaukee Bucks. Moreover, they have lost four out of their last five games, but they will look to beat the Toronto Raptors today. Miles Bridges scored 27 points for the Hornets against the Philadelphia 76ers in their last game. Additionally, Nick Richards provided a 19-point boost from the center position. But Brandon Miller is expected to return to the lineup, as he has been dealing with back issues. Additionally, Davis Bertans needs to get it going again for the Hornets. Although he contributed 14 points against the 76ers, it came off of an inefficient four-of-ten shooting from three-point range.

Game Prediction

I expect the Toronto Raptors to not only break their losing streak but to do so convincingly against the Charlotte Hornets. Despite the record, they are better than what their win total indicates. Although the Hornets have been playing better as of late, they are falling back down to earth. Regardless, a win by them wouldn’t necessarily be surprising, but they are more likely to leave Canada defeated today.

Additionally, I see the point total to be too high. Therefore, going with the under is the play here. Although bad teams can often score a lot of points on each other, these teams tend to fare better in terms of defensive intensity. Although the Toronto Raptors are on a two-game home skid, today they’ll fix that against the Charlotte Hornets through their defense.

Final Pick

Toronto Raptors -7 and Under 223.5
