Oklahoma Sooners

He is averaging 161.3 passing yards per game and is completing 62.8% of his passes. To start the year, he has thrown seven touchdowns and two interceptions.

Prediction

Based on their seasons so far, it is fair to say that Tennessee deserves to be the favorite in this game. However, making them a one-touchdown favorite seems to be too much. Yes, Oklahoma has indeed had some early-season struggles (beating Houston 16-12), but at the same time, Tennessee has yet to be challenged at all. The Volunteers beat Chattanooga (FCS), an overrated NC State team, and a below-average MAC school (Kent State). So, while Tennessee’s scoring output has been by far the best in the country, Oklahoma’s defense has been just as solid.

It is also important to factor in that this game is being played in Oklahoma at night and is Tennessee’s first true road game of the season (neutral site game against NC State). Simply put, these teams are much closer in talent than a touchdown spread, therefore backing the Sooners to cover at home will be our best bet.

Final Pick

Oklahoma Sooners +7 (-105)
