The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are hosting the Denver Broncos in this week’s matchup. The Buccaneers are coming off an impressive win in Detroit against the Lions, 20-16. On the flipside, the Broncos are looking for their first win of the season. Last week, they lost at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers 13-6. The Bucs need this win to keep pace in the NFC South and the Broncos need to get their first win under their belts sooner than later if they have post-season aspirations. Let’s dive straight into this game!

Key Stats
Denver Broncos
Although the Denver Broncos have not won a game yet this season, there are some positives to take away. We saw an exceptional jump from week one to week two from rookie quarterback Bo Nix. Statistically, they are a bottom-five offense. They rank 30th in points per game, 27th in rushing yards per game, tied for last with one offensive touchdown, 28th in yards per play, and tied for first in turnovers committed per game. This was going to be a season of growing pains with a rookie quarterback, Nix just needs reps to get better.
The Broncos’ defense has been where they hang their hat. They have one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL in Patrick Sertain II. They rank in the top ten in opponent points per game (10th), passing yards allowed per game (4th), and offensive touchdowns allowed (10th). Denver’s secondary is going to have their hands full this week, going against Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, a tandem that is one of the best in the NFL.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are coming off an impressive win against the Detroit Lions. Baker Mayfield has been great so far. He is tied with Derek Carr in passing touchdowns, second in the league in passer rating, and 3rd in yards per passing attempt. He and Chris Godwin have an electric connection. Godwin is coming off a seven-catch 117 and yards and a touchdown against Detroit. This offense ranks in the top four in points per game and touchdowns through the first two weeks. Their rushing attack hasn’t picked up yet, maybe it pick up this week.
The Bucs’ defense has been solid through two games. They rank 6th in points allowed per game and 10th in offensive touchdowns allowed. However, they are still expected to miss their best defensive back, Antoine Winfield Jr. Meanwhile, their star defensive tackle Vita Vea is considered day to day after leaving their game against the Lions with an MCL sprain. They’re going against another rookie quarterback in the first three weeks of the season. We saw how good their defense looked against Jayden Daniels. Can Bo Nix use his legs to take advantage of this defense like Daniels?
Prediction
I am picking the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to cover the 6.5-point spread in this game. Tampa’s defense will show out against another rookie quarterback. Todd Bowles, Tampa’s head coach, has a record of 10-6 vs rookie quarterbacks and outside of Surtain, Denver doesn’t have anyone who can cover Chris Godwin in the slot. PS2 will shadow Mike Evans which means Godwin will feast on inferior DBs. I expect the Bucs’ rushing attack to improve this week against a defense that allowed 143.5 yards per game on the ground.
Final Pick
Tampa Bay Buccaneers -6.5 (-115)
