Key Stats

San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers are coming off a heartbreaking loss at home against the Arizona Cardinals. Down one with a chance to win the game, Brock Purdy would throw the game-losing interception.

Despite the loss, San Fran has some good things to look at. They rank 10th in ppg (25.2), 4th in passing yards per game (263.4), 7th in rushing yards per game (144), and 2nd in yards per play (6.3). Purdy against the Seahawks has been above average. With a passer rating of 109.2, 794 yards, three touchdowns, and two picks in three games, he hasn’t lost against them in his career.

Defensively, this team hasn’t lived up to the expectations that they had coming into the season. With that being said, the 49ers defense is still 12th in points allowed, passing yards allowed, 9th in rushing yards allowed, 15th in offensive touchdowns allowed, 8th in sacks, and 7th in takeaways per game.

This is a game where the 49ers defensive line should dominate. We saw Seattle give up seven sacks to the Giants last week so if the 49ers can generate a good pass rush, this would be a key to a 49ers victory. Nick Bosa should feast even though they are shorthanded on the D-Line.

Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks are looking to break their two-game losing streak after losing to the New York Giants last week. Despite the loss, Geno Smith balled out with 284 passing yards, added 72 yards on the ground, and a passing touchdown. He was under duress all game, getting sacked seven times in the loss.

If they are going to win this week against the 9ers, they must get the running game going with Kenneth Walker III. Giving a running back of Walker’s caliber only five carries is unacceptable. They rank 3rd in the NFL in passing yards per game, but if Seattle gets into a drop-back battle with the 49ers, it might not end well this week.

The Seahawks’ defense has been good under first-time head coach Mike McDonald. Seattle’s defense ranks 17th in points allowed per game (22.8), 7th in passing yards allowed per game (183), 20th in rushing yards allowed per game (128), and 5th in sacks (17).

The number one thing the Seahawks need to hammer if they are to win this game it’s going to come down to if they can stop the run. Against the Giants, they allowed 175 rushing yards and gave up 37:22 time of possession, and against the Lions the week before, they gave up 116 rushing yards. We know the 49ers will run the ball into the ground if you allow them.

Prediction

The San Francisco 49ers are going to beat the Seattle Seahawks in this game and cover the spread. On top of Brock Purdy being undefeated against the Seahawks in his career, San Fran is going to dominate the line of scrimmage. In their two-game losing streak, Seattle is allowing almost 150 rushing yards per game. Kyle Shanahan will pound the rock if you allow him to. Nick Bosa and the 9ers D-Line will beat up on an injured offensive line that is missing two offensive tackles. Jordan Mason carries the ball 18+ times and the San Francisco 49ers return to form.

Final Pick

San Francisco 49ers -3.5 (-102)
