Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off a heartbreaking loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, 19-17. They had a chance to win the game at the end but couldn’t clutch up. Russell Wilson was subpar in the game. He completed 17 of 31 passes for 148 yards and a touchdown.

Pat Freiermuth had an awesome game with 8 catches for 85 yards and a touchdown. George Pickens had the worst game of his career with 1 catch for 0 yards on 6 targets, he also dropped 3 passes. The Steelers are on a four-game losing streak, but this is a team that they are very familiar with in Baltimore.

Pittsburgh’s defense has been above average all season long. They are ranked 8th in points allowed per game, 25th in passing yards allowed per game, 6th in rushing yards allowed per game, 9th in offensive touchdowns allowed, 16th in sacks, and 1st in takeaways per game. There are a few injuries to keep tabs on leading into this game.

Mason McCormick and Cameron Heyward are listed as questionable for this game. Heyward is listed with an illness, so it isn’t an injury to monitor. The last time these teams played, Pittsburgh was without many key players so there is a chance this game is closer than their last defeat to the Ravens.

Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens are coming off a dominating win over the Cleveland Browns, 35-10. Lamar Jackson was good in the win. Jackson completed 16 of 32 passes for 217 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also pitched in 63 rushing yards on 9 attempts. Derrick Henry dominated this game with 161 yards from scrimmage, 138 rushing, 23 receiving, and he also scored 2 rushing touchdowns.

Rashod Bateman led the team in catches and receiving yards with 5 catches for 76 yards and a receiving touchdown. If Baltimore can dominate the ground game against Pittsburgh, they have a great chance to come away with the win.

Despite the bad start, this Ravens’ defense has finished the year on a great note. For the season, they are ranked 9th in points allowed per game, 31st in passing yards allowed per game, 1st in rushing yards allowed per game, 9th in offensive touchdowns, 2nd in sacks, and 20th in takeaways per game.

There are a few key injuries to monitor in this game. Zay Flowers, Kyle Hamilton, and Justice Hill are listed as questionable in this game. The Baltimore Ravens are entering the playoffs on a four-game winning streak. In their most recent game, the Ravens dominated the Steelers 34-17.

Prediction

The Baltimore Ravens are going to win the game, however, the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to cover the 9.5-point spread in this game. Despite the fanatic in me, the Ravens are putting out a better product on the field than the Steelers. I do believe that the Steelers can keep this game closer than people believe, but this is an uphill battle.

Outside of their last game, Lamar has not played well against the Steelers. He also has a bad resume come the postseason. Lastly, if Zay Flowers can’t go in this game, that is a massive loss for the Ravens as Lamar’s top target. Baltimore wins a nailbitter, but the Steelers cover the spread.

Final Pick

Pittsburgh Steelers +9.5 (-105)
