Key Stats
Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens are coming off a big-time comeback win against the Cincinnati Bengals last week. Baltimore comeback from down 13 in the second half to win 35-34. MVP frontrunner Lamar Jackson was excellent, completing 25 of 33 passes for 290 yards and four touchdowns. Despite Derrick Henry being in check for most of the game, he still finished with 68 rushing yards and scored a rushing touchdown. Tylan Wallace had the game of his life, catching three passes for 115 yards, including an 84-yard touchdown. If the Ravens are going to win this game, their offense needs to be the dominant unit they have been all season.
This defense has one glaring issue, they can not stop the pass. For the season, they rank 25th in points allowed per game, 32nd in passing yards allowed per game, 1st in rushing yards allowed per game, 26th in offensive touchdowns allowed, 6th in sacks, and 18th in takeaways per game. Star safety Kyle Hamilton suffered an ankle injury in their win last week and is questionable for this game. He was limited in practice on Thursday, but his status is up in the air. That would be a huge loss for a Ravens defense that has a hard time stopping their opponents through the air.
Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming off a big test against the Washington Commanders, they came away with a win 28-27. Russell Wilson completed 14 of 28 passes for 195 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. George Pickens was exceptional with five catches for 91 yards, including a 16-yard touchdown catch. Najee Harris was limited to only 53 rushing yards on 21 carries, 2.5 yards per carry. Jalen Warren picked up the slack with 66 rushing yards on 14 carries, 4.7 yards per carry. Lastly, new receiver Mike Williams caught the game-winning 32-yard touchdown pass.
The Steelers’ defense has been nothing short of sensational. They rank 2nd in points allowed per game, 19th in passing yards allowed per game, 4th in rushing yards allowed per game, 2nd in offensive touchdowns allowed, 18th in sacks, and 6th in takeaways per game. This defense will be without edge rusher Alex Highsmith, but they picked up Preston Smith at the trade deadline last week, who had a sack against Washington. This defense should slow down Derrick Henry on the ground, but we know Lamar Jackson is a game-breaker at any moment.
Prediction
The Pittsburgh Steelers are going to upset the Baltimore Ravens in this game. The Ravens have not had recent success against the Steelers, 3-7 in their last 10 games. Lamar Jackson has only beaten the Steelers once, 1-3 since 2019. If you look at his numbers, for whatever reason, Pittsburgh makes him look pedestrian. Offensively, the Steelers’ passing offense has been good since Wilson took over. With the Ravens’ secondary being subpar and hurt, with Hamilton’s injury, this is a great spot for the Steelers to take a lead in the AFC North. Steelers win and extend their winning streak to five games and advance to 8-2 on the season.
