The Pittsburgh Steelers are starting their season in Atlanta to take on the Falcons. Both teams are turning the pages to new stories in their franchise. Pittsburgh has brought in former Super Bowl-winning quarterback Russell Wilson and former Chicago Bears quarterback Justin Fields after trading Kenny Pickett this offseason. To turn to the Falcons, they brought in star quarterback Kirk Cousins in free agency and hired Raheem Morris as their new head coach. Both teams look to start the season on a high note. Let’s dive into the game!

Key Stats
Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers under head coach Mike Tomlin have not had a record under .500 since he has been the HC. After being defeated by the Buffalo Bills in the playoffs last season, they have brought in talent on both sides of the football. They signed Russell Wilson after the Denver Broncos released him and then traded for Justin Fields to upgrade the quarterback position. On the defensive side of the ball, they signed star linebacker Patrick Queen away from the Baltimore Ravens and traded for Dontae Jackson. Lastly, they bring in a new offensive coordinator Arthur Smith who had success calling plays when he was with the Titans.
Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons are looking to compete in the lousy NFC South division this season. Atlanta spent big money on free agency. They gave Kirk Cousins big money to lead an offense that is young and very talented. Their offensive talent has been held back due to bad quarterback play last season. They have a top-ten offensive line which could lead to running back Bijan Robinson having an exciting second year. Defensively, they extended cornerback AJ Terrell last week, signed Jessie Bates last offseason, signed Justin Simmons, and traded for Matthew Judon. This could be a scary team in the NFC assuming Cousins can be himself coming off his torn Achilles.
Prediction
I am taking the Pittsburgh Steelers to beat the Atlanta Falcons on the road to start their season. Although the Falcons have brought in a lot of talent this offseason, the Steelers also brought in talent. We have seen both Pittsburgh quarterbacks struggle this preseason, however, Kirk Cousins is coming off a torn Achilles tendon injury. I can see him being a little “gunshy” and for a quarterback who isn’t very mobile could be under duress in this game. TJ Watt and Alex Highsmith have the potential to wreck this game by themselves with the strength of the Falcons’ offensive line being the interior.
Final Pick
Pittsburgh Steelers ML +132
