Key Stats
Washington Commanders
The Washington Commanders are coming off a dominant win against the Detroit Lions, 45-31. Jayden Daniels was excellent in the win. He completed 22 of 31 passes for 299 yards and 2 touchdowns. Daniels also added 51 yards rushing in the game. Brian Robinson Jr. had a great game with 77 yards rushing on 15 carries and 2 touchdowns. Terry McLaurin and Dyami Brown combined for 10 catches for 185 receiving yards and a touchdown. Kliff Kingsberry has been the mastermind behind one of the best offenses in the NFL and these playoffs.
Defensively, despite giving up 31 points, this Commander’s defense was great in this game. This defense sacked Jared Goff twice, forced 5 turnovers, and scored a touchdown. That is the biggest reason this team is in the final game in the NFC. Forcing an offense that averaged .9 turnovers per game, 26th in the NFL, to 5 turnovers is outstanding. Now we saw in both games against the Eagles, they allowed Saquon Barkley to go for a combined 296 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns. It will be a long day for Washington if they can’t slow him down.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles won a close game last week against the Los Angeles Rams, 28-22. Jalen Hurts was good enough to win the game. Hurts completed 15 of 20 passes for 128 yards, 7 carries for 70 yards, and a rushing touchdown. Saquon Barkley DOMINATED this game with 232 yards from scrimmage, 205 rushing on 26 carries, and 2 rushing touchdowns.
Dallas Goedert led the team with 56 receiving yards on 4 catches. DeVonta Smith and AJ Brown combined for 6 catches for 35 receiving yards. Don’t let the numbers fool you, these two are capable of 10+ catches and 120+ receiving yards at any point.
This Philly defense had a great game! In the win, Jalen Carter was arguably the second-best player. Carter ended the game with 2 sacks, 2 tackles for loss, 1 pass defended, and the key forced fumble of the 4th quarter which led to the Eagles extending their lead. That is an all-time great performance in a game that needed every single play he made. Philly’s defense has been one of the best all season long and they have not disappointed up to this point in the playoffs. If this team is going to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl, it starts with this defense being as great as they’ve been all season.
Prediction
The Washington Commanders are going to cover the spread in this game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Despite how dominant Philly’s defense has been, Jalen Hurts is a concern and got banged up in the win last week. We know this Washington team is very aggressive by going for it on 4th down which could lead to extending drives and keeping the Eagles’ rushing attack on the sideline. Marshawn Lattimore has been a different maker.
They are undefeated in games he has played in and it has shown by doing a great job on the opposing team’s best receiver. The Philadephia Eagles win it late, but 5.5 is too many points to swallow against an offense as hot as Washington.
