The Philadelphia 76ers (42-35) take on the Memphis Grizzlies (27-50) tonight. The 76ers have new signs of life as their star center, Joel Embiid, is finally back from injury. Philly has won both games since he has been healthy. Philly needs this win to help them make a serious playoff push.
Memphis is on the complete opposite side of the spectrum. They have been decimated by injuries this season and have a starting Five that resembles a G-League team. However, they have won three games in a row, including a win over the Milwaukee Bucks.
Regardless of the large spread (-12.5) and the blowout potential, there are still some great player props out there.
Joel Embiid (PHI) 30+ Points (+115)
Joel Embiid was the league’s best player by far before he tore his meniscus in late January. Now that he is back, this line seems way too low for him. Let’s take a look at some of Embiid’s key stats.
- Embiid has 29+ min in both games since returning from injury
- Embiid took 25 field goal attempts in his last game vs the Miami Heat and scored 29 points
- Embiid averages 36.7 points vs the Western Conference
- Embiid has 30+ points in 28 of 36 games
The best odds for this line are +115 on FanDuel. I love this play even more because of the value that FanDuel offers. Picking Joel Embiid to score 30+ points is -105 on DraftKings and other books. Embiid should dominate this inexperienced Grizzlies lineup.
Tyrese Maxey (PHI) Over 1.5 First Quarter Assists (-135)
I’m sticking with the Philadelphia 76ers for this next play. Tyrese Maxey has been great for the 76ers all year and really stepped up when Joel Embiid was injured. Embiid being back does take some volume away from Maxey, but overall it helps Maxey to have the big man on the court. Let’s take a look at the stats.
- Tyrese Maxey had 11 assists on 15 potential assists last game vs Miami
- 3 of those 11 assists came in the 1st quarter
- Maxey averages 1.6 assists in the first quarter
- Tyrese Maxey averages 60.9 passes per game – easily the highest on the team (Second is Kyle Lowry with 47.4)
I also like Tyrese Maxey Over 6.5 assists (+120). The reason I decided to go with the 1st quarter line instead is because of the blowout potential. If Memphis keeps this game close, I could see Maxey easily getting 7 assists. However, there is a good chance that this game is not close, and Philly rests their starters at the end of the game. This line offers more protection because we know Maxey will play his normal minutes in the first quarter. The best odds for this line is -135 on ESPN Bet.
