Oklahoma City Thunder vs Orlando Magic Preview, Prediction and Odds| 2/13/2024

Oklahoma City Thunder

Oklahoma City Thunder (36-17) play away at the Orlando Magic (29-24) in a cross-conference matchup. However, the visitors see themselves as three-point favorites tonight. Does this mean the game is a pick ’em on a neutral field? Not likely. But today is a good test for both sides.

However, Gordan Hayward remains out. The former Butler player is not expected back until after the All-Star break Bismack Biyombo will also wait until after the All-Star break. However, the rest of the lineups look healthy to play tonight. But one OKC veteran will wait to make his debut with his new team. But from a mostly healthy game, who do you see stepping up in a tightly contested game?

Oklahoma City Thunder

Oklahoma City Thunder remains one of the best teams in the league. They especially play well for a team with such a young corps. Although they’ll need to be battle-tested in the playoffs for fans to consider them future contenders, they have a bright side. Additionally, they won four out of their last five games. However, this will be a good barometer test for them. Although the traveling side is strong, so too is the home team.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander remains a top talent. But unfortunately for the Orlando Magic, he erupts for huge scoring outbursts on any given night. Additionally, Chet Holmgren would have won the Rookie of the Year were it not for a certain French San San Antonio Spurs player. (Also, he’s not even technically a rookie, but that aside.) Additionally, this Oklahoma City Thunder team keeps themselves young and talented and realistically can beat anyone on any given night.

Orlando Magic (Averages)

Points: 111.6

Points Allowed: 110.8

Field Goal Efficiency: 40.6/86.2 for 47.1%

Three-Pont Efficiency: 10.9/31.3 for 34.8%

Free Throw Efficiency: 19.5/25.9 for 75.4%

Rebounds: 11.0  Offensive, 31.9 Defensive, 42.9 Combined

Assists: 24.8

Steals: 8.2

Blocks: 5.2

Turnovers: 13.8

Field Goal Efficiency Against: 40.6/85.1 for 47.7%

Three-Point Efficiency Against: 11.6/32.8 for 35.5%

Free Throw Efficiency Against: 17.9/23.6 for 75.8%

Rebounds Against: 9.4 Offensive, 31.6 Defensive, 41.0 Combined

Orlando Magic continues to exceed expectations. However, currently sitting sixth in the East, they are looking good. Especially with the Joel Embiid injury, they are poised to make a jump in the standings. however, as mentioned before, they will need to play well in matchups like tonight. A win against the Oklahoma City Thunder would be great, but as long as it’s competitive until the final minutes, that would do for now.

Paolo Banchero creates scoring opportunities throughout games. Also, he averages 22.8 points per game. But tonight he needs to score closer to 30 for his team to have a chance. however, he is helped by Franz Wagner, a three-point shooter who can get hot from range at any minute.

Game Prediction

I see this playing out in the Thunder’s favor. Although the Magic can hang with them, the scoring potential from the visitors is too high. Especially if Holmgren and Gilgeous-Alexander score at a high-level tonight, it will be a quick one in Florida.

Additionally, the Magic give up too many points to their opponents. Therefore, this remains an area of needed improvement. However, their best path to victory against the Oklahoma City Thunder is to outscore them in a shoot-out. But I do not see this happening against a talented all-around team.

Final Pick

Oklahoma City Thunder -3 and Under 223
