Here are some of our favorite bets from the guys on “The Stew with JT Brew” podcast, which airs its “NHL Around the Ice” segment every Wednesday night on Total Apex Sports YouTube channel. Here are the best bets and player props for February 26, 2024.

If only the Ottawa Senators could be trusted to be a road favorite against the Caps. Do I think the Sens have more talent?  Do I think they should be better than their sub-.500 record this season?  The answer is a resounding yes to both. Ottawa is 7-2-1 in their last 10 games, and Brady Tkachuk and Tim Stutzle are responsible. Chucky has five goals and four assists in that span, while Stutzle sports three goals and three assists over his last five games.

The Caps are 20-3-4 when they score three goals or more, and Ottawa loves giving up three goals or more. Given the plus money price on the hosting Capitals, the money line does look juicy. Alex Ovechkin has been on a tear and should not be forgotten tonight, as he looks to bounce back after having his 10-game point streak snapped at Florida on Saturday night. Betters should beware – the lines and prop bets look great, but Ottawa is an absolute wild card every night. Unpredictability looms with this matchup.

Single Bets – Over 5.5 Alternate Total Goals (-170), Alex Ovechkin Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (-120), Alex Ovechkin Anytime Goal (+135), Brady Tkachuk Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (-150), Tim Stutzle Anytime Assist (+105) on Draft Kings

4 Pick Parlay – Alex Ovechkin Over 3.5 Shots on Goal, Alex Ovechkin Anytime Goal, Brady Tkachuk Over 3.5 Shots on Goal, Tim Stutzle Anytime Assist (+900) on Draft Kings

NHL Best Bets: NY Islanders (+140) at Dallas Stars (-166) – 8:00 PM EST

Over/Under 6.5 Goals (-110)

Both teams have been on the struggle bus, each having only one win in their last 5 games. The Isles have given up four goals or more in four straight games. Dallas, on the other hand, just finished up a five-game gauntlet playing the likes of Edmonton, Boston, New York Rangers, Ottawa, and Carolina. This marks only the third home game for the Stars this month.

The Islanders are in the midst of a longer skid, winning only five games since the turn of the new year (21-game span). Dallas turns to Scott Wedgewood in goal tonight, who has turned in a 13-6-4 record this season. Mathew Barzal continues his brilliance this season, with points in 9 of his last 10 games. Over the past several seasons, it has been a toss-up on who comes out the winner between these two clubs.

Single Bets – Dallas Money Line (-166)

NHL Best Bets: LA Kings (+130) at Edmonton Oilers (-155) – 9:30 PM EST

Over/Under 6.5 Goals (-110)

Edmonton once again cost many gamblers a lot of money last week, laying absolute eggs as favorites at home versus Calgary, Minnesota, and Boston. The Kings have gotten their act together of late, winning seven of their last nine games and five of their last six of the one-goal variety. Oiler goalie Stuart Skinner will man the crease at home and has been very shaky of late, giving up 6-6-6-4-4 goals in his last 5 outings. Connor McDavid has multi-assist games in four straight and 7 of his last 10 games.

If gamblers can find that play, it may be time to strike while the iron is hot. Zach Hyman has been a machine for Edmonton of late, scoring five goals in his past four games. Hyman has been logging heavy minutes over the past month as well. Could Edmonton really drop four straight and Rogers Place?

Single Bets – Connor McDavid 2 Assists (+200) on Fan Duel, LA Kings Over 2.5 Team Goals (-145) on Draft Kings, Edmonton Money Line (-155)
