NHL Best Bets and Player Props for February 19, 2024

A lot of early action on this President’s Day, but let’s take a look at some of the later games in the NHL today. Here are some of our favorite bets from the guys on “The Stew with JT Brew” podcast, which airs its “NHL Around the Ice” segment every Wednesday night on the Total Apex Sports YouTube channel. Here are the NHL best bets and player props for February 19, 2024.

NHL Best Bets: Chicago Blackhawks (+300) at Carolina Hurricanes (-380) – 6:00 PM CST

The Chicago Blackhawks are coming off a big home win versus the disappointing Ottawa Senators this past Saturday night. Over their past 15 games, the Over 5.5 total goals have gone only three times. However, the Hawks do have a new life with rookie sensation Connor Bedard inked back into the lineup. Bedard has been phenomenal in his two-game return, posting a goal and two assists while shooting the puck a ton. Petr Mrazek will man the crease for Chicago, and he has been red hot of late while facing a lot of shots.

Carolina has won seven of their last nine contests, which is amazing considering the goalie carousel they have been on this season. Spencer Martin gets the nod in this one, coming off a 3-1 win in Vegas this past Saturday. Since being acquired from Columbus, he is 2-0 and allowed only three goals in those starts. I think Mrazek will be tested often in this one as he looks to continue his hot streak.

Players to watch are Hurricane forward Seth Jarvis, who has scored a point in 9 of his last 10 games. Jarvis plays on Line 3; however, he gets top Power-Play deployment. Martin Necas has also been on a roll for the Canes, scoring six goals and four assists in his last ten games. Connor Bedard looks to stay hot on the road; however, goals could be hard to come by against a seasoned Carolina team.

Over/Under 5.5 Goals (Over -125, Under +105)

Single Bets – Alternate Under 6.5 Total Goals (-165), Petr Mrazek (CHI) Over 29.5 Saves (-125)

NHL Best Bets: Ottawa Senators (+136) at Tampa Bay Lightning (-162) – 6:00 PM CST

I like this spot for Tampa Bay, as they are going to be seeking redemption after an embarrassing home loss to Florida on Saturday, 9-2. The Senators love playing in high-scoring games, and I see this one resulting in more of the same. Both teams are in the bottom 20% allowing goals. If goals are to come in bunches, betters should look to Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov to go nuts. Brayden Point will be tied to his hip and should be looked to provide scoring as well.

The Senators Brady “Chucky” Tkachuk, have been murdering the net of late, with four or more shots on goal in his last six games, scoring six goals in that span. The Lightning allow the 12th most shots in the NHL and have been giving up many of late. Andrei Vasilevskiy has allowed three goals or more in 6 of his past 10 starts and gave up six to Florida in his last outing. Goalie play has been atrocious for Ottawa, no matter who has been in goal this season.

Over/Under 7 Goals (Over +105, Under -125)

Single Bets – Alternate Over 6 Total Goals (-210), Kucherov (TB) Over 1.5 Points (-115), Point (TB) Anytime Assist (-110), Tampa Bay Over 3.5 Total Goals (-145)
