Happy Valentine’s Day. We have three games tonight on the day of love. Hopefully, it’s a good night all around. Here are some of our favorite bets from the guys on “The Stew with JT Brew” podcast, which airs its “NHL Around the Ice” segment every Wednesday night on the Total Apex Sports YouTube channel cooked for you. Here are the best bets and player props for February 14, 2024.
NHL Best Bets: Florida Panthers (-125) at Pittsburgh Penguins (+105) – 7:30 PM EST
Over/Under 6 Goals
Since the turn of the calendar year, the Pens have not been good, given their 5-6-3 record. However, they have been stingy of late, giving up only an average of two goals per game in their last five games. Goalies Tristan Jarry and Alex Nedeljkovic need to be given credit because if not for their stellar play in goal, the Pens 2024 record could be a lot worse. Sid “The Kid” Crosby has been on an absolute heater of late, scoring at least a point in 10 of the last 11 games. Pittsburgh defenseman Erik Karlsson has scored assists in 9 of his last 10 games.
On the other side of the rink, Florida has won six of their last seven games, and their games have gone five total goals or under in 8 of their last 12 games. Sam Reinhart continues to tear the league up, with points in 9 of his last 10 games. When Reinhart scores, Matthew Tkachuk is usually tied to his hip. The money line for this matchup is unpredictable. The last three times these teams have met, the total goals have been five or under. I suggest playing the over/under and player prop bets for this one.
Single Bets – Under 6 Total Goals (-118), Sid Crosby (PIT) Anytime Assist (+105) on Draft Kings.
Two Leg Parlay – (+380) on Draft Kings.
NHL Best Bets: San Jose Sharks (+350) at Winnipeg Jets (-455) – 7:30 PM EST
Over/Under 5.5 Goals
Unless gamblers are playing a “Can’t Lose Parlay”, there is no reason to bet the Jets on the money line tonight. Also, they have struggled to score of late, scoring a total of 12 goals in their last ten games. So, the puck line -1.5 to the Jets is a risky play at best. Meanwhile, even though the Sharks are without their best players, Tomas Hertl and Logan Couture, due to injury, they are 4-1-1 in their past six games.
The goalie tandem of Blackwood and Kahkonen has been very good in that span. Kahkonen will tend the twine for the Sharks tonight. Given the Sharks playing on the road and the Jets’ lack of recent scoring, I am nervous to play any player props in this matchup.
Single Bets – San Jose Sharks Alternate Puck Line +2.5 (-138) on FanDuel, Under Alternate Total Goals of 6.5 (-194) on FanDuel.
Minnesota Wild (-122) at Arizona Coyotes (+102) – 9:30 PM EST
Over/Under 6 Goals
Wyatt, the Wild are rolling! They are winners in six of their last eight games. Wins over teams the likes of Florida, Carlina, Pittsburgh, and Vegas have happened in that span. Top goalie Filip Gustavsson has much to do with that, winning five of his last seven games. Arizona is mired in their biggest slump of the season, losing their last six games and giving up nearly five goals a game in that time. These teams tend to score on one another a lot, putting up a combined six goals or more in six of their last eight matchups.
On paper, many would think that the Wild money line is the best bet, however Arizona is scoring goals and being the home team, the losing streak must snap soon. Gamblers should rather look to player prop scoring instead and lean on players such as Minnesota defenseman Brock Faber. Faber is the hottest rookie in the league and has points in 9 of his last 10 games, with the majority being in the assist category.
Also, Wild forwards Kirill Kaprizov and Joel Eriksson Ek have been lighting the lamp a lot of late and should be looked at to score goals tonight vs. the Coyotes. Ek has eight goals in his last ten games, while Kaprizov has seven.
Single Bets – Faber (MIN) Anytime Assist (+114), Ek Anytime Goal (+160), Kaprizov Anytime Goal (+130) on Draft Kings.
