Week 8 of the NFL football season is upon us and let’s get to this week’s three-team parlay. In addition, we play these picks on a money line parlay and straight up. Last week we went 0-3 ATS and it is a bit frustrating as we have not got the traction we expect. However, as Zach Lucas, director of retail sports at TwinSpires stated, this two-week stretch is the worst run that Vegas Books has seen. We tend to avoid public plays, which explains our 8-13 ATS year to date.
Our NFL Football Parlays target sharps plays. Sharp plays are betting lines indicating reverse line movements, line hold, or burner lines. We also identify games where the Vegas books have the most liability on a certain team. In other words, the betting outcome that Vegas books need to profit on the day. Remember that the probability of cashing a three-team parlay is 6/1, so a realistic goal is for us to hit on two or three for the season.
The betting lines and betting trends are the consensus posted at Vegas Insider and are subject to change. To be a profitable sports bettor, the odds are in your favor to stay away from public plays, usually the betting favorite. Here we go with our week 8 plays, follow or fade.
Parlay Leg #1: Philadelphia Eagles +3.5 (Alternate Spread)
Parlay play number one is the Philadelphia Eagles +3 versus the Cincinnati Bengals. We see a burner line on the Eagles here with the line movement the result of 70% of the spread and 87% of the money bets on the Eagles. The opening line of 3 has since dropped a full point. Philadelphia is 3-3 ATS this season but played very well last week with their offense back intact. The Eagles’ recent ATS numbers are a bit concerning, however, the Bengals are 0-3 SU and ATS in their last three at home. We will back the Eagles and buy the full point back in our opening parlay leg.
Parlay Leg #2: Indianapolis Colts +5
The middle leg features the Indianapolis Colts +5 against the Houston Texans. We are veering a bit here with this selection with no reverse line movement on the Colts. That being said the Colts are a strong 6-1 ATS this season, including five straight covers. Indianapolis is also in a revenge spot here, having lost the first meeting with the Texans 29-27 at home. Houston is 4-6 ATS in their last 10 versus Indianapolis and 4-6 ATS in their last 10 home games.
Parlay Leg #3: Dallas Cowboys +4
The Dallas Cowboys +4.5 are the anchor leg of our NFL parlay this week. Here we see the sharp line movement with a majority of the bets on the 49ers, however, the money is on the 49ers. This betting action has dropped the line a point and a half down from its opening 5.5. Dallas is a definite bounce-back spot after being blown out at home in week six against Detroit. Another strong indicator we spotted, is Dallas opened up on the money line +230 and is now down to +192.
Dallas is 3-0 SU and 2-1 ATS in their last three road games. We will take the underdog Cowboys in our final parlay leg against a 49ers team that is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games as a favorite.
Total Parlay Odds: ATS +467 / Money Line +1577
