As the NFC Championship Game approaches, it is time to start looking at the prop bets for the game. What makes betting fun is the ability to cheer for certain players even if you do not like the teams playing. Prop bets can be some of the most rewarding and infuriating bets to make, but at this point in the season, we have a much better idea of the tendencies of each team. As the NFC Championship Game draws closer, here are three prop bets for the 49ers vs. Lions. Note: all bets are via FanDuel sportsbook.
NFC Championship Game Prop Bets #1: Lions Get Aggressive
Jameson Williams First Touchdown +2800
I’m starting with a bit of a long shot in the NFC Championship Game prop bets. However, this is the scenario that I see as a real possibility. The Lions know they are underdogs. Head coach Dan Campbell is known for his aggressiveness and will likely want to get out to a quick start. Everyone on the San Francisco defense will be focused on Jahmyr Gibbs, Amon-Ra St. Brown, and Sam LaPorta. On their first drive, the Lions get the ball and do a play-action deep shot. Williams is their best deep threat and could get the first touchdown.
What makes me like this bet even more is the 49ers’ secondary has been suspect all season. Jordan Love carved them up. The heroics of Fred Warner and Dre Greenlaw saved the team. Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson will likely want to challenge this secondary on the outside. Williams is the perfect player to be targeted.
NFC Championship Game Prop Bets #2: Lions Rookie Stays Hot
Brian Branch To Record An Interception +800
The season began with Branch picking off Patrick Mahomes and returning it for a touchdown. Defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn has been using Branch creatively throughout the season. He lines up all over the field and always seems to be in the thick of things. The 49ers are known for their quick passes, and if Branch is playing nearer to the line of scrimmage, he could get his hands on a pass.
Alternatively, Brock Purdy has been turnover-prone against good teams. If Aidan Hutchinson can create pressure, Purdy might make bad decisions. Branch and fellow safety Kerby Joseph might get some good opportunities for turnovers. Branch is a fun player to cheer for, making this a fun addition to the NFC Championship Game prop bets list.
NFC Championship Game Prop Bets #3: Lots Of Scoring
Each Team To Score In All Four Quarters +750
If you choose from the list of NFC Championship Game prop bets and can’t figure out who to cheer for, why not cheer for both teams? Both of these offenses are amongst the best in the league. Even with the stingy defense of the 49ers and the improving unit for Detroit, there should be plenty of scoring. Even better, you just need points from each team in each quarter. With the caliber of offenses on the field, you’d like to think each team could at least get a field goal.
Jared Goff and his record on the road is what concerns me. There is a very real possibility the 49ers pass rush and linebackers give Goff and the offense fits. On the flip side, Deebo Samuel is still on the mend, and if he doesn’t play, the 49ers’ offense won’t be the same. Still, this is a fun bet because you are cheering for points no matter what.
Those are the most fun NFC Championship Game prop bets. As always, a same-game parlay is fun to build, especially with the quality of talent on the field.
