Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams are coming off a low-scoring win last week against the San Francisco 49ers, 12-6. Matthew Stafford was good enough to win by completing 16 of 27 passes for 160 yards. Puka Nacua led the Rams in catches with 7 and receiving yards with 97. Kyren Williams dominated the game with 112 yards from scrimmage, including 29 carries for 108 rushing yards. This was a “weird game” considering Cooper Kupp finished the game with zero catches on three targets. This team has the firepower to be a dangerous team if they can make the dance that is the NFL Postseason.

Defensively, this team has been below average statistically. They are ranked 24th in points allowed per game, 19th in passing yards allowed per game, 28th in rushing yards allowed per game, 20th in offensive touchdowns allowed, 24th in sacks, and 15th in takeaways per game. In terms of injuries, the Rams are one of the more healthy teams in the NFL at this point in the season. Cornerback Cobie Durant is questionable, as he had a chest injury that kept him sidelined last week against the 49ers. During the Rams’ three-game-winning streak, they are allowing 20.6 points per game.

New York Jets

The New York Jets are coming off a high-scoring game as they beat the Jacksonville Jaguars 32-25. Aaron Rodgers had one of his best performances this season. He completed 16 of 30 passes for 289 yards and 3 touchdowns. Rodgers also led the Jets in rushing yards with 45. Davante Adams put up a monster game. He finished the game with 9 catches for 198 yards and 2 touchdowns. Adams put up those numbers all in the second half. Garrett Wilson pitched in 3 catches for 56 yards and a touchdown. Breece Hall finished the game with 51 yards from scrimmage, 30 rushing, and 21 receiving. He also scored a rushing touchdown.

The Jets’ defense hasn’t lived up to the hype they had last season. New York still has a very solid defense. They are ranked 18th in points allowed per game, 5th in passing yards allowed per game, 16th in rushing yards allowed per game, 11th in offensive touchdowns allowed, 9th in sacks, and 25th in takeaways per game.

When it comes to the injury report, the Jets will continue to be without left tackle Tyron Smith. On defense, almost their entire secondary is questionable for this game. DJ Reed, Brandin Echols, Tony Adams, Jalen Mills, and Michael Carter II. That is not ideal going against a team with the receiving core the Rams have.

Prediction

The Los Angeles Rams are going to beat the New York Jets in this game and cover the 3-point spread in this game. To put it flatly, the Rams are the better/hungrier team in this spot. With the Jets’ secondary being up in the air, the Rams’ wide receivers should be able to dominate their matchups. LA can continue to stay on top of the NFC West with a win in this game and it might be the easiest road to a playoff spot. The Jets are playing for pride at this point in the season. Kyren Williams goes for 100+ yards from scrimmage as the Rams cruise to a win against the Jets on Sunday.

Final Pick

Los Angeles Rams -3 (-120)
