The New Orleans Pelicans(49-33) take on the Los Angeles Lakers(47-35) in the early Play-In Tournament game of the evening.
Both sides are relatively healthy and expect to be able to go full-out. However, injury narratives have been a part of both teams throughout the season. Furthermore, these concerns have been a part of players on both rosters for quite some time. While some players on the court today have been dealing with injuries for most of their careers, some of the older players are starting to see the minutes pile up.
But if both sides are mostly at full strength, who do you see advancing today?
Pelicans vs. Lakers Injuries
New Orleans Pelicans
Player | Injury | Status |

The Pelicans have a clean bill of health for today’s game. However, it remains to be seen how Brandon Ingram will be able to fare today against the Los Angeles Lakers. He dealt with injuries toward the later part of the year and was only just able to make a return. Therefore, it’s especially important to see how he is moving and how the offense flows as he continues to reintegrate himself into the offensive flow.
Updates:
Los Angeles Lakers
Player | Injury | Status |
LeBron James | Ankle | GTD |
Christian Wood | Knee | Out |
Jarred Vanderbilt | Foot | Out |
Anthony Davis | Back | GTD |
Jalen Hood-Schifino | Back | OFS |
The two big names are on the injury report for today’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans. However, it’s known that their inclusion is to be expected and that, more likely than not, they will play 30+ minutes tonight. LeBron James and Anthony Davis continue to lead the dreams and playoff aspirations of this storied franchise.
Whether their inclusion is a formality or not, it’s important to watch any time either of these two collides with another player or see any forceful contact. These two are great players at their best, but the rest of the team is overall limited without either one of these two on the court.

New Orleans Pelicans Mostly Lucky With Injuries
Ingram and Zion Williamson are obviously the best players on this New Orleans Pelicans team. Uncharacteristically, both have been able to play a lot of games together and have been mostly injury-free. But in something of a twist, it was Williamson who had been more healthy than his other former Duke Blue Devil counterpart.
Either way, this team appears to be poised to at least threaten a deep playoff run, assuming both continue to be on the court. As stated, it goes without saying that the best players on both teams need to be available. The New Orleans Pelicans may have had injury misfortune hit at precisely the wrong time.
