Key Stats
Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers are coming off one of the more dominant wins by any team this season. They beat the New Orleans Saints 34-0 at home. Jordan Love was solid in the game, he wasn’t asked to do much. He finished the game with 16 of 28 passing for 182 yards and a touchdown. Josh Jacobs was the star of the night. He finished the game with 107 yards from scrimmage, 69 rushing yards, and 38 receiving yards. Jacobs also scored a rushing touchdown in this game. Nobody was eye-popping on offense outside of Jacobs in this game, but they didn’t need to be.
Green Bay’s defense has been one of the best all season. They are ranked 6th in points allowed per game, 9th in passing yards allowed per game, 8th in rushing yards allowed per game, 8th in offensive touchdowns, 6th in sacks, and 3rd in takeaways per game. Regarding injuries, Christian Watson, Tucker Kraft, Luke Musgrave, and Elgton Jenkins are listed as questionable; and Jaire Alexander is listed as out for this game. The Packers are still one of the younger teams in the NFL and are primed to be one of the tougher outs in the league.
Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings are coming off a big-time win on the road against the Seattle Seahawks last week 27-24. Sam Darnold was excellent in the win. He completed 22 of 35 passes for 246 yards and 3 touchdowns. Justin Jefferson destroyed the Seahawks’ secondary. He finished the game with 10 catches for 144 receiving yards, and 2 touchdowns. He is an all-time talent and could go down as one of the best receivers ever. Aaron Jones finished with 93 yards from scrimmage, 67 rushing, and 26 receiving yards. This is one of the more complete teams in the NFL.
There’s an argument to be made that Minnesota has the best defense in the NFL. They are ranked 3rd in points allowed per game, 30th in passing yards allowed per game, 2nd in rushing yards allowed per game, 3rd in offensive touchdowns allowed, 5th in sacks, and 1st in takeaways per game. In the grand scheme of things, this is a very healthy team. The only key questionable player is Ivan Pace Jr. and he’s been out since November 17th with a hamstring injury. This is one of the more dangerous teams in the NFC that can compete for and win the Super Bowl.
Prediction
The Minnesota Vikings are going to defeat the Green Bay Pacers and cover the spread in this game. Minnesota is the better and healthier team in this game. Both teams have already punched their tickets to the postseason, but the Vikings have more to play for in this spot. Minnesota is competing to keep pace with the Lions and potentially catch them for the number one seed in the NFC.
We already saw the Vikings dominate the first half of the game the first time these two teams played and that was when Green Bay was healthy. The Vikings cruise to a win and are in contention for the number-one seed in week 18.
