Minnesota Timberwolves vs Portland Trailblazers Preview, Prediction and Odds| February 15 2024

Minnesota Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves (38-16) travel to the Portland Trailblazers (15-38) for the last game before a long All-Star weekend break. Although both teams look to win, the away team looks stronger. However, this is not only due to reading the conference standings. Instead, it is on the defensive end of the floor. Additionally, both sides played twice this year already. And in both instances, today’s traveling team won by convincing margins.

However, any single regular season game is up for grabs, especially with a break around the corners. Although, tonight Minnesota looks for complete and ready to compete than the hosts.

But do you see a longshot upset happening, or is the spread set at the right amount?

Minnesota Timberwolves

Anthony Edwards is listed as questionable, but since he participated in the morning shootaround he’s likely to play. However, you need to monitor his status before tip-off just in case the Minnesota Timberwolves elect to give him additional rest. Moreover, if he can’t go then this game becomes more interesting. But Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert appear fully healthy and ready to go against the Portland Trailblazers.

At full health, this team competes with some of the best. They are currently on a three-game winning streak and look to extend that to four. But Mike Conley is someone to monitor. He’s averaging 10.6 points per game. Especially if Edwards does not play, he needs to get himself into a better scoring rhythm. Scoring production from him could go a long way for the Minnesota Timberwolves to make the playoffs.

Portland Trailblazers (Averages)

Rebounds Against:10.9 Offensive, 33.5 Defensive, 44.4 Combined

Portland is more likely to get a number-one overall pick than anything else. Although even in that aspect they hold a four-game lead over the San Antonio Spurs in the West. Additionally, the injury report does not look favorable for them. Therefore, this explains the massive line movement from the oddsmakers. It started as the Minnesota Timberwolves favored by 4.5 points but has since blossomed to double-digits. Regardless of who plays tonight, it will take multiple career nights to beat this good Timberwolves side.

Although they have one frontcourt player to keep an eye on. If Jerami Grant has another high-scoring triple-double night then that will set up this game to potentially be competitive. But he will be without several teammates. Robert Williams and Shaedon Sharpe are out with injuries. Malcolm Bragdon also remains out and he is expected to be re-evaluated in two weeks. Additionally, Scoot Henderson is questionable but is expected to play.

Game Prediction

The away team will take care of the business. Even if Grant has a 50+ point triple-double, the game may be too far out of reach. The Minnesota Timberwolves are too good. Additionally, they knew the significance of winning games that you should win. Especially in a competitive West, they cannot afford to let too many easy opportunities fall when they’re expected to dominate. Additionally, I see the Trailblazers struggling to get to 100 points tonight, so I see the under as the safe bet for the night.

Final Pick

Minnesota Timberwolves -10 and Under 215.5
