Reds vs. Milwaukee Brewers

The Milwaukee Brewers are taking on the Atlanta Braves in today’s game two of their three-game series. In yesterday’s game, the Brewers demolished the Braves 10-0. The Brewers are eying to keep their bats hot against Atlanta’s ace Chris Sale. To turn to Atlanta, the Braves are looking to bounce back after getting blasted yesterday. Standing in their way is Freddy Peralta and the Brewers!

Key Stats

Milwaukee Brewers

Over the last ten games, the Milwaukee Brewers have a record of 4-6, they’re currently leading the National League Central. Starting this game on the mound will be none other than Freddy Peralta. Peralta has a record this season of 6-6 and has had success against the Braves’ batters. Over his career, Peralta has held Atlanta batters to a .195 batting average (24-for-123) with 41 strikeouts and four home runs. He faced the Braves just six days ago and pitched six innings while giving up two runs and struck out seven batters.

As for the offense, they are still without left fielder Christian Yelich. Since Yelich has been hurt, the offense has taken a step back. Since he has been out on July 23rd,  the Milwaukee Brewers have only put up four or more runs in five of the 11 games. However, they are led by their catcher William Contreras. Contreras leads the team in batting average (.283), OBP (.356), and hits (122).

The Atlanta Braves are looking to bounce back from their 10-0 loss yesterday and continue their dominance at home. With a record of 32-24 at home, they have been excellent under their expected pitcher Chris Sale. With a record of 13-3, Sale is tied for the most wins in the MLB. He has been sensational in his career against the Brewers’ batters. Sale has held their batters to a batting average of .176, (13-for-74) with 24 strikeouts and only one home run.

The Atlanta Braves’ offense is led by Marcell Ozuna. Ozuna leads the team in batting average (.297), home runs (32), RBIs (86), OBP (.370), and hits (124). Although he has struggled against Freddy Peralta, (1-for-10) with five strikeouts, he is due for a breakout game against him. His teammate, first baseman Matt Olson, is coming off a good game as he went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles. The Braves are going to need their heavy hitters to step up to bounce back after their demolition yesterday.

Prediction

I am predicting that the Atlanta Braves will cruise to a multi-run victory over the Milwaukee Brewers. This game is primed for the Braves to get that sour taste out of their mouth. Losing 10-0 at home is embarrassing. They are sending out their best pitcher, Chris Sale, in this game shows me that they are ready to get back to their winning ways. Plus, they need to continue to stack up wins to keep up with the rest of the National League Playoff contenders.

Final Pick

Atlanta Braves -1.5 (+128)
