The Milwaukee Brewers are taking on the Miami Marlins in today’s game one of their three-game series. The Brewers are coming off winning their last series 2-1 against the Chicago Cubs, including the last two games. On the flipside, the Marlins are coming off a surprising performance, they won their series against the Baltimore Orioles and had a chance to pull off the sweep last night. This should be a good series, so let’s dive into it.

Key Stats
Milwaukee Brewers
The Brewers have had an outstanding home record of 29-17 this season, giving them a big advantage. They are missing left fielder Christian Yelich due to lower back inflammation. However, they should be okay without him. Starting pitcher Freddy Peralta is blazing hot this season as he sits in seventh in the MLB for strikeouts. The team has won five out of their last six games. Also, they are eighth in runs and sixth in batting average in the league.
Miami Marlins
The Marlins currently have a horrible away record at 15-32. It’s been a bit of a disappointing season for them, and playing the Brewers on the road will be difficult. They currently have a bottom three offense in the MLB outside of batting average which is a bottom 10. Starting pitcher Trevor Rodgers has a record of 1-9 and hasn’t had a quality start this month. Also, Jazz Chisholm, who leads in batting AVG, RBI, and OBP, has only managed to connect seven times in his last 29 at-bats. On the bright side, Miami has had at least four runs in their last seven games.
Prediction
I am predicting the Milwaukee Brewers cruise to a multi-run win in today’s game. In Freddy Peralta’s last game, he went six scoreless innings with 8Ks, and he is going against one of the worst offenses in the MLB. The Marlins have been playing above their skis, scoring four runs in their last five games including 6 in three straight games. They defeated the Orioles in their last series. All these sound like promising trends, however there will be a regression to the mean factor when it comes to this team. I expect them to take a step back and be the team they have been all season.
As for the Milwaukee Brewers, they are winners of five of the last six and have been fantastic at home with a record of 29-17. The Brewers are without their best bat, Christian Yelich, however they have a 17-12 record without Yelich this season. Lastly, the Brewers are three games back of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Why is this noteworthy? It is because there is still room for the Brewers to catch the Dodgers and capture the second seed in the National League and receive a bye to the divisional round come the postseason. So there is no need to have a slip-up game against a poor opponent.
Final Pick
Milwaukee Brewers -1.5 (-102)
