Memphis Grizzlies vs Portland Trail Blazers Preview, Predictions and Odds| March 2 2024

Portland Trail Blazers

The Memphis Grizzlies (20-40) host the Portland Trail Blazers (16-42) for a Saturday night game. This regular season series has a two-to-one lead for the Trailblazers. But the Grizzlies were able to steal one away from home earlier in the season. However, due to increased injuries and unavailable players, it’s unlikely that we will see that happen tonight. The hosts are on a four-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, the visitors were on a losing streak of their own. However, they beat the Grizzlies in Memphis yesterday by a 30-point margin. But a back-to-back game can be difficult to evaluate, especially as both teams become more familiar with each other and find different ways to attack each other’s weaknesses. This explains why the line is where it is at for today’s game.

But do you see the Trailblazers putting on another dominant performance against the Grizzlies tonight?

Key Stats

Memphis Grizzlies

Memphis received bad news when they found out that Jaren Jackson Jr. would not be able to play today. Therefore a team that is already limited will now need even more people to step up however he didn’t play in the game against the Trailblazers yesterday and Jake LaRavia scored 21 points Off the Bench. Additionally, Jordan Goodwin scored 10 points for the Memphis Grizzlies. But Vince Williams Jr. needs to score in double figures today and avoid the costly four turnovers that we saw from yesterday’s performance.

Portland Trail Blazers

Portland is a team that struggles and will likely continue to for most of the rest of the season. Additionally, Deandre Ayton is a game-time decision and Scoot Henderson is ruled out again. And for Anfernee Simons needs to have a bigger day for this team than what he did yesterday. Simons scored seven points on three of nine shooting. Furthermore, Jerami Grant can’t afford to have a game where he only scores 10 points. However, there is optimism that this roster will keep it close tonight against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Game Prediction

This line speaks to how competitive NBA teams are even in a down year. In other words, the gap is always closer than we think. Despite losing by a wide margin yesterday the Memphis Grizzlies are expected to keep tonight relatively close. Although it’s indeed hard to beat a team back-to-back nights when you have a limited roster I expect the Portland Trail Blazers to get the job done against what I view as an even worse Memphis Grizzlies team.

In my view, the roster is significantly worse simply due to their current availability. Therefore I am going on the money line on this one. Furthermore, the point total is to stay away from me. Due to the moving pieces and lack of continuity overall on both sides, this game could become an ugly defensive battle, or more open looks could see the over hit. Therefore this is a stay-away in terms of bedding for this game. Regardless of how the game ends up playing out I still see the Portland Trail Blazers beating the Memphis Grizzlies in Tennessee tonight.
