The Los Angeles Angels have been a dreadful team that has been suffering due to the injury bug to their key players. The team has been dreadful as they have lost eight of their previous 10 games, including each of the last three games. The offense has been struggling throughout the season and they need to figure things out. Shortstop Zach Neto has been leading the way for the offense as he has a .782 OPS with 19 home runs, 63 RBIs, 57 runs scored and 22 steals on 30 attempts.

Right-hander Carson Fulmer is getting the start here and he is struggling as he is 0-4 with a 4.24 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP in 74.1 innings thus far. His command has been a massive struggle as he has 35 walks to 71 strikeouts thus far. Fulmer is coming off a loss against the Kansas City Royals where he threw four innings and allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits with three walks and four strikeouts.

Toronto Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays have been struggling throughout the season but are beginning to heat up as they won six of their previous 10 games. The Blue Jays are hitting at a decent level but just are not doing well enough to climb back up to a .500 record right now. First baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been hitting at an outstanding level right now as he has a .316/.389/.546 slash line with 26 homers, 81 RBIs and 75 runs scored.

Righty Bowden Francis is going to be taking the ball here and is 6-3 with a 4.38 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP in 63.2 innings of work this year. He has done better at keeping the ball in the park as he has allowed 12 home runs, or better than one every five innings. Francis secured a victory over the Chicago Cubs where he pitched seven shutout innings as he allowed just three hits with zero walks and seven strikeouts.

Prediction

There is a significant gap in how these starting pitchers have been performing throughout the month of August. Carson Fulmer is 0-2 with a 5.82 ERA and a .286 opposing batting average in 17.0 innings (four starts) while Bowden Francis is 2-1 with a 1.40 ERA and a 0.47 WHIP in 19.1 innings (four games, three starts). The Blue Jays are clearly the better team and these offenses since the All-Star break are on two different levels as Toronto is eighth with a .753 team OPS and 4.6 runs per game while Los Angeles is 24th with a .665 team OPS while averaging 3.85 runs per game.

Expect the momentum of the walk-off victory to carry into this game and the Toronto Blue Jays win by multiple runs.

Final Pick

Toronto Blue Jays -1.5 (+115)
