Jalen Brunson will lead the battle for NY. Well not really, the Knicks are clearly the better team regardless of injuries right now. The Nets can be feisty but the Knicks have arguably the best PG in the East. And my goodness has he been doing damage? Voted the Eastern Conference player of the week, Bruson is an absolute star.
Jalen Bruson: Dominance at MSG to Continue
During the Knicks’ four-game road trip in which they faced the Kings, Warriors, Nuggets, and Blazers the Knicks PG has averaged over 36.5 PPG and has been the best player on the floor in all 3 of the Knicks’ wins on their west coast road trip. The Knicks now come home to face a Nets squad who are 26-45 overall and 3-3 over their last 6 going up against pretty weak competition. Playing the Grizzlies, Hawks, Pistons, Hornets, and the Cavs in which they pulled out an impressive upset.
But this isn’t really about the Nets or the Knicks for that matter. This is Jalen Brunson in his world and we’re just living in it. The Nets have given up an average of 29.8 PPG to opposing guards over the last 6 games. PG & SG collectively. The group of guards isn’t exactly the most potent offense players either. Hawks SGs dropped 33, the Grizzlies SGs also had their way with the Nets backcourt scoring 34 points on the road in Brooklyn. Going a game further back, the reeling 76ers (who started 3 guards) combined for a total of 42 points.

We can keep going but the bottom line here is that the Nets struggle containing guards. Not to mention these players aren’t nearly as offensively formidable as Jalen Brunson. The low side of my projections has Jalen Bruson at 27.5 points. I think he gets over his point total prop easily against a Nets D who has struggled to contain any guards recently. The Knicks superstar PG is averaging 27.5 PPG on the year, which ranks 5th overall. He’s also shooting an impressive 47.8% from the field.
These stats have translated to dominant performances at the Garden, where he is also averaging 27.5 points. After a short injury stint in which he started slow, he’s slowly picked the pace back up scoring close to 28 PPG post all-star break. Considering the Knicks injuries with Annanoby and Randle on the sidelines and their chance to catch the Cavs and secure the 3 seed in the Eastern Conference, I’d expect another big game from Jalen Brunson at home.
