Sacramento Kings vs. Detroit Pistons Preview, Prediction & Odds | April 7, 2025

kings pistons

The Sacramento Kings look to finish the season with a playoff berth. The Detroit Pistons look to avoid the play-in tournament. Both teams are still playing for playoff position as the Kings go to Detroit for their last away game of the season. With only four games left to go, every win counts as the regular season reaches its end. The Pistons are coming off of a Saturday night loss to Memphis but look to be healthy and ready for this contest.

Kings Coming Off Huge Road Win in Cleveland

The Sacramento Kings come into this game on the second of back-to-back road games. The Kings were able to upset the number one seeded team currently in the east. They won 120-113 with huge contributions by key players. Zach LaVine led the team with 37 points, including a huge 3-pointer with 1:19 remaining to ice the game. Domantas Sabonis and DeMar DeRozan followed him up with 28 and 27, respectively.

With this win, the Kings improved to 38-40 and are comfortably three games ahead of the 11th-seed Phoenix Suns. The win against Cleveland was huge for this team, but one more win would secure them a spot in the play in tournament.

Cunningham Returns, but Late Season Struggles Continue

Cade Cunningham returned to the lineup for Detroit on Saturday. Cunningham contributed 25 points and nine rebounds for the Pistons. The Pistons still fell short in that game, 109-103, and have lost three of the last four heading into this contest.  Zach Edey had a career-high 21 rebounds, and Ausar Thompson added 18 points and 11 rebounds. Overall the Pistons struggled with foul trouble as Memphis was able to hold them off. Isaiah Stewart sat down in the fourth quarter with five fouls but if they can keep the Kings away from the foul line, I like the look of the under at 233 (-110) in this one.

Prediction

Even though they are underdogs going into this game, I like the Kings in this one. I don’t expect a team that has been tested as much as Sacramento to rest on their laurels this late into the season. Look for this game to be on the lower scoring end, but the underdog to upset the Detroit Pistons like they did the Cleveland Cavaliers the night before.

Final Pick

Sacramento Kings to win (+220) and under 233 points (-110).
