The Memphis Grizzlies travel to Golden State to take on the Warriors on Tuesday for the second scheduled game of the NBA play in tournament. The winner of this game earns the 7th seed in the Western Conference and will get to face off against the Houston Rockets in the first round of the playoffs. Both teams finished the regular season with a record of 48-34.
However, due to how deep and close the Western Conference playoff race has been this year, they find themselves battling for their postseason lives in the play-in. The Warriors were victorious the last time these two teams matched up, defeating the Grizzlies 134-125 in a game shrouded by controversy. Steph Curry had 52 points the last time these two teams met, and the Warriors ended up winning the season series 3-1.

Memphis Still Shaky After Firing Head Coach
The Grizzlies are coming off a huge victory in the season finale. They hosted the Dallas Mavericks and defeated them 132-97 in Memphis. Now they travel to San Francisco to take on the Golden State Warriors with the chance to earn the 7th seed in the playoffs on the line. Memphis hopes to make the postseason despite having parted ways with coach Taylor Jenkins with only nine games left in the season.
Memphis has gone 4-5 in the final nine games. They lost the first three games under interim head coach Tuomas Iisalo. It is possible the Grizzlies may have found a rhythm though having stabilized to win four of the last six. Of course, it can’t go without being said that the last time these two teams met, Ja Morant went viral for the wrong reasons. The Memphis guard was fined $75,000 by the NBA following an incident where Morant appeared to be making gun gestures at the Golden State bench.
Warriors Still Confident Despite Sunday’s Loss
The Golden State Warriors just barely fell short of a top-six seed in the Western Conference with a loss on Sunday to the Clippers. They acquired Jimmy Butler at the trade deadline to try and make a push for a top-six seed, but despite falling short of that goal, they have seen a ton of success. The Warriors have gone 23-7 in games where Butler played, and despite many in the media doubting this team due to age, they are not concerned.
“We’ll be fine,” Draymond Green told the media after Sunday’s 124-119 overtime home loss. “Playoffs, you’re playing no back-to-backs or anything like that, so just got to get there. We’ll be alright. We’re not senior citizens. We’re high-level basketball players.”
Final Pick
