Memphis Grizzlies vs. Miami Heat Preview, Prediction, & Odds | April 3, 2025

Memphis Grizzlies Forward

The surging Miami Heat host the spiraling Memphis Grizzlies on Thursday, April 3. Memphis seemed to have missed on a chance to salvage their season earlier this week at home against the Golden State Warriors with a 134-125 loss. Now they go on the road against a Miami Heat team who have won five games straight. Point guard Ja Morant finds himself in more foolish controversy as this team continues to struggle. It’s Heat Culture vs No Culture in this late-season matchup.

Ja Morant Under Investigation Again

Sources say that the NBA is “looking into” Grizzlies star Ja Morant making “finger gun motions” in the direction of the Golden State Warriors‘ bench during Tuesday night’s game. At the end of the game, which the Grizzlies lost 134-125, Morant was seen making a gesture towards the Warriors’ bench.  One Warriors player, guard Buddy Hield, appeared to be “returning fire” with a gesture of his own. Referees assessed technical fouls to both players, and kept the end of the game moving without any stoppage.

Adebayo and Heat Looking to Win 6th Straight

The Heat are coming off a 120-94 victory over the Washington Wizards Monday night at Capital One Arena. Although the Heat had lost 10 games in a row at one point before this winning streak. They seem to be trending in the right direction, and the total opposite direction of the Memphis Grizzlies. The Heat are known for the mythical “Heat Culture”. Some people, particularly the most recent exes from said culture, think it’s overhyped. I think it’s a common consensus amongst all organizations that good culture rises the level of performance in all aspects. Without a “Big 3” or much “Star Power” to speak of, the Heat, coached by Erik Spoelstra is making use of the players they have and using them effectively within their system. The Heat held the Wizards to only 94 points in the rout. Significant contributions on both sides of the ball by rookie Pelle Larsson, who closed with 15 points.

Final Pick

I like the Heat to beat the spread a lot in this game. Currently, the line is sitting at -4, and it has been moving. I would hop on this action early, especially if the league may decide to throw the book at Ja Morant.
