Golden State Warriors vs San Antonio Spurs Preview, Predictions and Odds| March 9 2024

San Antonio Spurs

The Golden State Warriors (33-29) host the San Antonio Spurs (13-50) on Saturday. These two sides met earlier, but it was a close six-point game. However, injury concerns leave a lot of questions as to how tonight will play out. Furthermore, the Warriors are looking to find their groove and hope to go on another championship run. They are winners of three of the last five games and hope to maintain a competitive edge in a crowded Western Conference.

Meanwhile, the Spurs are on a two-game losing streak and hope to at least keep it close if they do not come up with a win tonight. But key exclusions will make tonight a difficult game for the visitors. However, we have seen others step up for both teams throughout the season, and this should still be a good game. There are certainly avenues to place your wagers on.

However, do you see the Spurs coming out of the chase center with a win tonight?

Key Stats

Golden State Warriors

Golden State Warriors

Steph Curry as he continues to recover from his ankle injury. However, Gary Payton II is a game-time decision. Regardless, this is a team that needs to find ways to win without their best player. Especially against a limited San Antonio Spurs roster, the Warriors winning without Curry would be a positive step forward. While he should be healthy in time for the playoffs, it’s still important to develop others around him so that he doesn’t need to go for 30-plus points at night.

Furthermore, this move should bring Klay Thompson back into the starting role, as he has been placed in a reserve role off the bench for the past couple of games. Additionally, Jonathan Kuminga is coming off a 19-point performance in their latest game against the Chicago Bulls. especially with Curry being out, they will need more contributors in the scoring department, and although Kuminga isn’t a three-point shooter, he can be a valuable contributor in the post area.

San Antonio will be without today. Although it is going to be tough sledding without the Frenchman, Devin Vassell has stepped up lately. Furthermore, there has been something of a resurgence with Malaki Branham, who scored 23 points off the bench against the Sacramento Kings. However, he did it through five of five shots. from three-point range. Although that was a great night, it’s unreasonable to expect to be able to shoot 100% from range every night.

But if he can consistently knock down shots, then he should not only see an uptick in playing time but also production for this San Antonio Spurs team. Furthermore, Keldon Johnson had a little bit of a bounce-back game. Although he starts on the bench now, he scored 22 points in the narrow defeat to the Kings. Especially with Wembanyama out, look for both of those players as well as for Vassell to lead the offensive charge and keep things close.

Game Prediction

The San Antonio Spurs should be able to keep this closer than what people are anticipating. Although the Warriors are understandably favored by a lot, the spread is simply too high. While it’s possible that Thompson goes off for a big day, it’s more likely that this will just be a sloppy game and that neither side will really be able to maintain a distinct advantage one way or another.

Moreover, Vassell is playing well and should be able to score a lot in order to keep this game relatively close. Furthermore, the Warriors are wounded at this point. While a win is expected, it’s unlikely that they will be able to create much separation. Therefore, I am going with the San Antonio Spurs to cover.

Final Pick

San Antonio Spurs +12.5
