He only pitched 39.2 innings this season during eight starts, but was able to pitch well as hitters had a .213 batting average against. Boyd only has one appearance in the postseason throughout his career back in 2022 with the Seattle Mariners. Prediction
It is difficult to expect a sweep in the postseason and Game 2 is going to be the best chance the Detroit Tigers have of avoiding this. Tarik Skubal has been absolutely dominant when handed the ball and actually has shut down this Guardians lineup as he picked up a win back on July 22, where he threw seven innings and gave up just one run to this lineup. Matthew Boyd is susceptible to giving up a run or two in this game as the Tigers can put together hits and plate some men. While this won’t be a high-scoring game, go with the Detroit Tigers to win on the road to split the first two games of the ALDS.
