Detroit Tigers Regular Season Win Total 2025 | MLB Season Long Bet

Tarik Skubal, Detroit Tigers

The Detroit Tigers are entering the 2025 season looking to repeat last season’s success. The Tigers made the playoffs for the first time since 2014 and shocked the MLB. They were the hottest team in baseball for the last two months of the regular season. With that being said, the next question is how should bettors look at the 2025 season outlook for this up-and-coming young Tigers team?

Outlook Based Off Last Season

The Detroit Tigers were one of the best stories in recent baseball history last season. In the last 44 games of the season, Detroit had a record of 31-13, which was the best record in the majors during that span. Local fans and media couldn’t quite put their finger on how the team was pulling off these wins. Minor League pitchers with north of an 8 ERA were being brought to the Major League roster becoming almost unhittable. The voodoo was real and unexplainable. The pitching rotation was basically Cy Young Winner Tarik Skubal and what manager AJ Hinch called chaos behind him.

Hinch admitted that this style of baseball would be unsustainable for an entire season. The team’s young core found themselves competing in the Wildcard against the Houston Astros after a Minnesota Twins collapse late in the season. Detroit would ultimately lose to division rival Cleveland Guardians in the ALDS.

Offseason Moves

The Detroit Tigers weren’t as busy as people may have hoped in the offseason. The failure to sign third baseman Alex Bregman is still something fans are trying to wrap their heads around. They added to their bullpen with right-handed pitcher Tommy Kahnle on a one-year deal from the New York Yankees.

They also signed Alex Cobb from the Guardians and brought back Jack Flaherty after trading him at the deadline last season. This will give the Tigers more depth in their starting rotation. Gleyber Torres is penciled in to start at second base this season, moving the improving Colt Keith over to first.

The team still needs to address their Opening Day third basemen. Detroit is rumored to bring in veteran Nolan Arenado from the St. Louis Cardinals but with the recent history of ownership, it could be a surprising move. The inconsistency of this young lineup still needs a veteran presence. And if Javy Baez is still involved with this team, be afraid, be very afraid!

Final Thoughts

My heart wants to take the Detroit Tigers over 83.5 but I bet with my mind and my mind says take the under. Detroit had an unexplainable magical end of the regular season. This team is still very young as far as MLB experience. Most of the free agents that General Manager Scott Harris brought in were for one year contracts.

Why is this important? This is critical because these players are easy moves for the team to dump at the trade deadline if they are in the position to be sellers. Not many remember but Detroit were sellers at last year’s deadline and got hot after. Not many teams that sell become relevant after. Without the last 2 months of the season, the Tigers would have been way under this mark.
