Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are coming off a loss last week against the San Francisco 49ers, 30-24. Despite a strong start, Dak Prescott finished the game completing 25 of 38 passes for 243 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. Dak must be sharper if Dallas is going to make a playoff push. CeeDee Lamb was excellent, catching 13 passes on 17 targets for 146 yards and 2 touchdowns. We know this team is without a running game. They only rushed for 56 yards on the season. For the season, Dallas averages 74.1 rushing yards per game which is last in the NFL.

Defensively, the Cowboys have been awful. They are ranked 31st in points allowed per game, 20th in passing yards allowed per game, 31st in rushing yards allowed per game, 21st in offensive touchdowns allowed, 19th in sacks, and 26th in takeaways per game. They will be without Micah Parsons again this week. Cornerback DaRon Bland will miss this game as well. Those are two big losses for a defense that has struggled this season. If Dallas is going to make this game competitive, they must slow down a Falcons offense that is top six in passing yards and 12th in points per game.

Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons are coming off a big-time divisional win last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 31-26. Kirk Cousins was excellent, completing 23 of 29 passes for 276 yards and 4 touchdowns. Kyle Pitts had his best game of the season. He caught 4 passes for 91 yards and 2 touchdowns. Bijan Robinson was great as well with 106 yards from scrimmage, 13 carries for 63 yards, seven catches for 43 yards, and a receiving touchdown. This offense has so many weapons. I didn’t even mention Drake London, who is 13th in receiving yards in the NFL.

The Falcons’ defense has been below average statistically. They are ranked 19th in points allowed per game, 18th in passing yards allowed per game, 21st in rushing yards allowed per game, 14th in offensive touchdowns allowed, 32nd in sacks, and 13th in takeaways per game. Jessie Bates III is coming off a stellar game. With 3 solo tackles, 2 assisted tackles, an interception, a pass deflected, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. He was everywhere against the Buccaneers. Atlanta needs him to be who he has been, one of the best safeties in the NFL, for them to continue their winning ways.

Prediction

The Atlanta Falcons are going to defeat the Dallas Cowboys and cover the 3-point spread. This is a bad matchup for the Cowboys. Their defense can’t stop a nosebleed. The Dallas Cowboys have a record of 0-4 when they allow more than 20 points. The Falcons team should move the ball all day against this defense. Kirk Cousins won’t have to worry about Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence, or DaRon Bland in this game as well. The Falcons’ offense shines and soars to a win and they move to 6-3 on the season and will extend their lead in the NFC South.

Final Pick

Atlanta Falcons -3 (-115)
