New York Giants

The New York Giants are coming off a debilitating loss last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 30-7. Tommy DeVito was bad, completing 21 of 31 passes for only 189 yards. Malik Nabers didn’t have a target till the second half and still ended with 6 catches for 62 yards. Tyrone Tracy Jr. had a decent game with 70 yards from scrimmage, 42 rushing, and 28 receiving yards. This offense has been bad all season. They are bottom four in points scored per game, passing yards per game, offensive touchdowns scored, and yards per play.

The Giants’ defense has been the shining light in a dreadful season. For the season, they are ranked 17th in points allowed per game, 7th in passing yards allowed per game, 30th in rushing yards allowed per game, 14th in offensive touchdowns allowed, 4th in sacks, and 26th in takeaways per game. Against the Buccaneers, this defense gave up 450 total yards of offense, 294 passing, and 156 rushing yards. The Giants are going against a Cowboys offense that is coming off a great win last week and is looking to win their first home game of the season.

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are coming off a win last week against the Washington Commanders, 36-28. Cooper Rush was excellent in their win by completing 24 of 32 passes for 247 passing yards and 2 touchdowns.

Tight end Luke Scoonmaker stepped up big instead of Jake Ferguson, who was out with a concussion, with 3 catches for 55 yards and a touchdown. CeeDee Lamb was solid, catching 10 passes for 67 yards. You love to see the volume of catches because he is a big play threat every time he touches the ball. Rico Dowdle had a very productive game with 98 yards from scrimmage, 86 rushing, and 12 receiving.

The Cowboys defense has been terrible this season. For the season, they are ranked 31st in points allowed per game, 21st in passing yards allowed per game, 31st in passing yards allowed per game, 30th in offensive touchdowns allowed, 12th in sacks, and 16th in takeaways per game. Eric Kendricks and Trevon Diggs are questionable in this game. If they can’t go, Kendricks would be a big loss for a defense that has been bad all season. Diggs missed last week with his groin/knee injury, so it would not be the end of the world going against a bad Giants offense.

Prediction

The Dallas Cowboys are going to get their first home win of the season cruise to a win and cover the 3.5-point spread. With DeVito questionable due to arm soreness and not practicing or flying with the team, Drew Lock is potentially slated to start. From a betting perspective, I hope DeVito plays, however, if he doesn’t, I think Dallas will cover regardless with Micah Parsons going against two backup offensive tackles for the Giants.

Similar to Dallas’ defense, we saw the Giants trail by 30 entering the fourth quarter. Dallas has talent on both sides of the ball that will be too much for the Giants. I expect Lamb to have another big day, despite New York’s good pass defense. The Cowboys win 24-14 and cover the 3.5-point spread and move to 5-7 on the season.

Final Pick

Dallas Cowboys -3.5 (-104)
