The Cleveland Cavaliers (36-18) visit the Philadelphia 76ers (32-23) in the second night of a back-to-back for both teams. Each team took a loss in their first game back from the All-Star break. This is the third and final meeting between the two teams. They have split the series so far, with the margin of victory averaging under three points.
The spread is over that three-point margin. Will Philadelphia be able to cover the spread despite not playing well?

The Cleveland Cavaliers are one of the hottest teams in the NBA. They have won 18 of their last 21 games. While they dropped one to the Orlando Magic last night, they still remain one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. Cleveland is riding a six-game road winning streak. Over the last ten games, Jarrett Allen has been on a tear. He is averaging 16.9 points and 10.7 rebounds while shooting 62.8% over that span.
Donovan Mitchell is listed as day-to-day with an illness. While he is expected to play, keep an eye on his minutes, especially if you are looking to bet the over. On the second night of a back-to-back, the team may look to limit his minutes. Ty Jerome is still out with an ankle injury.

The Philadelphia 76ers are in a freefall. Once Joel Embiid went down with a knee injury, this team has struggled on both ends of the floor. Even with Embiid, the 76ers haven’t been great against teams with winning records. They are 15-14 against opponents over .500 on the season. One bright spot for the team has been Kelly Oubre Jr., who, over the last ten games, has averaged 16.8 points.
Robert Covington is still out with a knee injury, and De’Anthony Melton is listed as day-to-day with a back injury. The team hopes Buddy Hield can help the offense and hang onto their spot in the East until Embiid returns.
Game Prediction
I am fading the Philadelphia 76ers until Embiid is back. He is such a huge part of what they do that this team will be disjointed until he returns. The matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers is a nightmare for them. Cleveland has size and scoring and has been playing better over the course of the last two months.
It’s the second night of a back-to-back, so I expect a low-scoring game, but Cleveland will come out victorious. The two teams have been within three points in their first two matchups, but I think Cleveland wins big against a reeling Philadelphia team.
Final Pick
Cleveland Cavaliers -4.5 and Under 228.5
