Cleveland Cavaliers vs Houston Rockets Preview, Predictions and Odds| March 16 2024

Houston Rockets

The Cleveland Cavaliers (42-24) are set to play the Houston Rockets (31-35) in an early Saturday evening matchup. Cleveland is a team that can be good and they have Eastern Conference Final aspirations. But they have suffered from a little bit of an injury bug. Additionally, Houston is undergoing entry concerns of their own at the moment. Therefore this game can be hard to pick.

However with who’s playing is there a clear favorite tonight?

Key Stats

Cleveland Cavaliers

Cleveland Cavaliers

This Cleveland team needs to get healthy and have a run of games together before the playoffs. They are led by Donovan Mitchell, who averages 27.7 points per game. Darius Garland is often the primary ball handler. Garland averages 6.3 assists per game. Meanwhile, Jarrett Allen controls the glass, as he gives you 10.7 rebounds per game. This Cleveland Cavaliers team is healthy enough that they are favored and deservedly so against the Houston Rockets today.

Houston Rockets

Houston Rockets

Houston is a team that should be good next year. They are young, and they are without the services of Alperen Sengun, likely for the rest of the season. However, there is still quality on this roster, especially against a depleted Cleveland Cavaliers team. Fred VanVleet averages 8.0 assists per game and should step in well. Meanwhile, Jalen Green averages 18.6 points per game and needs to increase this total. However, the Houston Rockets have seen these two especially step up, and it wouldn’t be shocking if they were to win today.

Game Prediction

The Cleveland Cavaliers have a better all-around roster. But their recent string of injuries and lack of depth mean they aren’t as well equipped for tonight’s game against the Houston Rockets. Therefore, I am picking the Rockets to cover the spread. I see you tonight as a close game that could go either way. However, Houston is in better form, and a win wouldn’t be surprising. In fact, a win in which the Rockets control most of the game shouldn’t surprise anyone either. I am also going with the over, as I see the point total being too low. Despite the injuries, both teams have players who can score. Especially for the Houston Rockets, look for Jalen Green to push this point total over.

Final Pick

Houston Rockets -4.5 and Over 214
