Key Stats
Clemson Tigers
The Clemson Tigers enter 3-1, averaging 42.0 points per game this season. Running Back Phil Mafah leads the team in rushing, averaging 85.5 yards per game. Quarterback Cade Klubnik is averaging 246.0 passing yards per game and is completing 66.40% of his passes. So far this season, Klubnik has thrown 12 touchdowns and two interceptions.
Wide receiver Bryant Wesco Jr. is averaging 59.5 receiving yards per game and has scored two touchdowns. Antonio Williams is averaging 49.0 receiving yards per game. Defensively, Clemson has six interceptions and eight sacks. They are allowing 25.8 points per game.
Florida State Seminoles
The Seminoles enter the game 1-4, averaging 15.20 points per game this season. Lawrance Toafili leads the team in rushing, averaging 42.8 yards per game with two touchdowns. Due to the injury of quarterback DJ Uiagalelei, quarterback Brock Glenn will be the starting quarterback going forward. Glenn has yet to complete a pass in his limited game time this season.
Wide receiver Ja’Khi Douglas averages 57.0 receiving yards per game and has one touchdown, while Malik Benson is averaging 37.0 receiving yards per game, but has not scored a touchdown. From a defensive standpoint, Florida State has two interceptions and 16 sacks. They are allowing 24.60 points per game.
Prediction
Clemson is more than a two-touchdown favorite in this game, but that should not scare you off of backing the Tigers. Florida State has been atrocious this season and that was with DJ Uiagalelei. The change in quarterback to Brock Glenn could only make matters worse for the Seminoles, especially against a Clemson defense that has improved since their game against Georgia in the opening week of the season.
Further, Clemson is averaging 55.0 points a game over their last three games, while the Seminoles’ defense continues to get gashed week after week. Because of this, backing Clemson to win in a blowout and cover an alternate spread of -13.5 will be our best bet for Saturday night.
Final Pick
Clemson Tigers -13.5 Alternate Spread (-134)
