The Tampa Bay Rays have a solid record in their last ten games at 6-4 and 28-28 at Tropicana Field. They are coming off a 4-0 win in yesterday’s game two. Tampa Bay put up four runs yesterday, which is noteworthy because in their last ten games, they have only won one of the five games they haven’t scored four runs. They are going to need to continue to put up runs which will be a struggle for them with Hunter Greene on the mound for the Reds.

Greene has been dominant against the Rays in a small sample size. He has held Rays batters to a .194 batting average, 6/31 overall with ten Ks. The Rays are going to need a big game from their best bats, Yandy Diaz and Issac Paredes. They lead the Rays in hits, batting average, home runs, RBIs, and OBP. They are also fourth in the MLB in terms of stolen bases. They need their big guns to step up and complete the series win in today’s game.

Cincinnati Reds

The Cincinnati Reds have been around a .500 team all season. However, when Hunter Greene is on the mound, they have been formidable. With a record of 7-4, Greene has shown to be the strikeout artist he has been in the past. He is 12th in the MLB with 133 Ks in 117.1 innings pitched. He is also coming off of an impressive performance, against the Atlanta Braves, he went seven innings, only giving up two hits with seven strikeouts.

With an away record of 25-26, they are going to have to depend on their heavy hitter in Elly De La Cruz, who is still looking for his first hit of the series. As a team, the Reds are number one in the MLB in stolen bases led by De La Cruz, who is number one in the MLB with 51 stolen bases, 20 more than the next closest player. This is a winner takes all game for this series and it should be an exciting game for one of the most exciting players in the MLB.

Prediction

I am predicting that the Reds will cruise to a series victory against the Rays. This is based off of Hunter Greene’s dominance against the Rays’ batters. He has held Rays batters to a .194 batting average, 6/31 overall with ten Ks. I also believe that De La Cruz will emerge from his slump. He is too good of a young player to go hitless for an entire series. The Rays will be unable to string together multiple quality at-bats against Greene’s nasty 4-seam fastball.

Final Pick

Cincinnati Reds MoneyLine (-126)
