Brooklyn Nets vs Toronto Raptors Preview, Predictions and Odds| February 22 2024

Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets (21-33) travel to the Toronto Raptors (19-36) for a Thursday night game. Additionally, both teams are on something of a losing streak. But the All-Star Break hopes to give both sides a fresh start. Especially after the break, they’ll look to finish stronger toward the end of the regular season.

The hosts lost three in a row. But their last game against the Indiana Pacers came in a narrow 2-point defeat. Meanwhile, the visitors lost a home-and-home series against the Boston Celtics. But they won the only and first matchup so far this regular season.

It’s expected to be tight, but who do you see winning the slate tonight?

Brooklyn Nets

Brooklyn hopes to improve. They are looking in a new direction. But they will center their plans around their current best player. Additionally, they brought in some helpful pieces. But make no mistake, it will be an uphill climb for this Brooklyn Nets team. However, they lucked out schedule-wise. Also, this should help new head coach Kevin Ollie. He’s someone looking to remove the interim tag. They play an undermanned Toronto Raptors team. This helps their chances of getting off on the right foot.

This team runs through Mikal Bridges. But he also is getting help from Dennis Schroder. Additionally, Nic Claxton continues to be a big frontcourt presence. This is a good foundation, but more help and development is needed before discussing the Brooklyn Nets as title contenders. However, Coach Ollie can develop talent, but getting over a looming Ben Simmons hump may be one of the most challenging aspects of his career to date.

Toronto lost the first matchup by 13 points. But the teams have reshaped since then. Notably, Kelly Olynyk is considered day-to-day with a back injury. But aside from him, they appear to be at full health. Regardless, this game helps to shape the trajectory for the rest of their season. Regardless, this team ranks in the bottom half of scoring offense and defense. Therefore every night going forward should be a tough game. Particularly against a renewed in spirit Brooklyn Nets.

Scottie Barnes dictates if this team gets a win or is able to even come close. He averages 20.1 points per game, 8.0 rebounds per game, and 6.1 assists per game. Additionally, he gives you over a steal and a block. In other words, he is this team’s production. While others step up now and then, if he doesn’t have 25+ points, it will be a rough outing against the Brooklyn Nets.

Game Prediction

Tonight is expected to be close. However, I see this game favoring the visitors. While their track record is not good this year they appear to be on a better course toward winning than the home side tonight. Additionally, they faced them a comfortably won. Therefore, including the new pieces and overall better roster quality, seeing the Brooklyn Nets tonight as underdogs surprises me.

Despite what the oddsmakers say, I see the visitors winning tonight. It’s not fair to say either team is in good or poor form, because there are too many new pieces. However, I like what the Brooklyn Nets did more in terms of fit and overall cohesion. Yes, they struggle with chemistry regarding Simmons, but everything else could be the foundation of a good nucleus. Furthermore, I see both offenses being unable to push the point total over the expected mark. Therefore I am going with the Under and the Brooklyn Nets to win on the MoneyLine.

Final Pick

Brooklyn Nets -105 and Under 231
