Brooklyn Nets vs Memphis Grizzlies Preview, Predictions and Odds| March 4 2024

Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets (24-36) host the Memphis Grizzlies (20-41) for a Monday night game. The first meeting between these two teams was in late February. And seeing as that was only four games ago, these teams should be familiar with each other. However, there are some notable exclusions in today’s lineup when compared to the most recent matchup.

Furthermore, it’s in a different city and at a different time. While past matchups can indicate how teams will do, there can also be a lot of change that happens day in and day out in the NBA. But on that day, the Nets defeated the Grizzlies by 25 points.

But who do you see coming on top in this game between two teams with losing records?

Key Stats

Brooklyn Nets

Brooklyn did not have a good start to their season. So much so that they parted ways with their former head coach. However, Kevin Ollie tries to bring things back on track. And although the roster itself remains limited, there are some bright spots. They won three out of their last four games. However, those wins came against the Memphis Grizzlies and twice against the Atlanta Hawks. But the Brooklyn Nets hope to build off of this recent momentum. They will be without two familiar names for their game against Memphis.

Cam Thomas is dealing with an ankle injury, but he is expected back soon. Meanwhile, Ben Simmons is questionable with a leg injury, but his playing time is likely to be limited even if he is able to go. Regardless, this team falls squarely on the shoulders of Mikal Bridges, who is coming off a 38-point game against the Hawks.

Memphis Grizzlies

Memphis has had a rough season. Even when they had all of their pieces, this was simply an undermanned roster. However, their difficult road just became even worse with the injuries. Most noteworthy, Jaren Jackson Jr. is doubtful to play with his quad injury. He is not likely to see the floor against the Brooklyn Nets today. Meanwhile, Zaire Williams and Derrick Rose are expected back this week as they have both been dealing with back issues.

Therefore, Santi Aldama needs to have another big scoring night from Memphis. He’s going off a 21-point game against the Portland Trail Blazers. Also, Vince Williams Jr. contributed 21 points as well. Simply put, other players need to step up; otherwise, things can get ugly in a hurry.

Game Prediction

This game can serve as an important one for the Brooklyn Nets. Although their postseason hopes were quickly abandoned, they are still trying to show that they can compete for a playoff spot next year and that their new system under Coach Ollie can work. Not only is Coach Ollie coaching for his job, but the players are playing for a roster spot as well. Despite the lower competition, they are on a hot streak and are playing in better form than the Memphis Grizzlies.

Therefore, I’m picking the Nets against the spread in this game. Not only did the Nets beat the Grizzlies earlier by a wide margin, but it was in Memphis the last time. And while it’s hard to see another complete blowout happening again, the Grizzlies will likely fall to the Brooklyn Nets again by at least double digits.

Final Pick

Brooklyn Nets -9
