The Boston Celtics (37-12) play host to the Memphis Grizzlies (18-31). Although Boston remains the strongest contender this year, they have slipped up. Also, they are coming off of a disappointing win against the Los Angeles Lakers. Losing to the Lakers may not always mean a lot, however, in this case, they did so without facing LeBron James or Anthony Davis.
On the other side, Memphis appears closer to tanking than anything else. However, this is not the main storyline. Instead, a lot of focus will be on Marcus Smart. The veteran was acquired via trade and appears to be staying in Memphis for now. This news coming despite rumors of teams potentially interested in his services. Regardless, with or without Smart, this will remain a tough ask of Memphis.
However, Smart will of course not be playing, due to his finger injury. Regardless of the emotion and likely fan support, the visitors will hope to hand Boston their second straight loss. Will they be able to pull something out of the hat?

The Boston Celtics have Jaylen Brown listed as a game-time decision. However, with or without him this team needs to take care of business. Even if Brown is a limited participant, they need to make this a blowout game. This would allow the chance to ease Brown into a rhythm without further straining his back.
Derrick White needs to have a big night. Even though he leads the team in assists, getting him in a scoring mode could help down the line. As someone who hovers around 15 points a game, he could help the offense further as a scoring option. Especially if Tatum is in a rut.

If we’re being honest the Memphis are too injured and not equipped regardless to beat the Boston Celtics. They even traded for another injured player Steven Adams! However, a possible path forward remains. Any given night right? But this remains unlikely at best. A good game from this squad will be to keep it within 12 points at the end.
However, if Desmond Bane can have a career night, and force some foul trouble down low, it could get interesting! But realistically, outside of poor shooting nights and multiple quick fouls, this game shouldn’t be close. Derrick Rose and Santi Aldama are game-time decisions. Also, Zaire Williams is listed as out with a hand injury.
Game Prediction (Boston Celtics vs Memphis Grizzlies)
There are too many factors saying that the Boston Celtics will avoid the upset. However, the line is a different story. At 19.5, that’s simply too many points to leave hanging at the door. Is Boston 20 points better? Yes! But garbage time, a cold shooting quarter, and Memphis showing effort will make this closer than that! This is why I also, see this remaining a low-scoring game. Either the benches will play a lot, or Memphis will make it close enough. However, I can’t see the Grizzlies holding up their end to make it anywhere close to 218.
Final Pick
Under 218.5 and Memphis Grizzlies +19.5
