Key Stats
Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens are coming off defeating the Buffalo Bills last week 35-10. Lamar Jackson wasn’t asked to do too much as it was the Derrick Henry show. Henry finished the game with 24 carries for 199 rushing yards and two total touchdowns. Meanwhile, Lamar was solid through the air with 13 of 18 passing for 156 yards and two touchdowns. When the Ravens play like this, they are a snowball rolling down the field. The Baltimore Ravens and Lamar have had success against the Bengals with a record of 8-2 in his career.
Defensively, they shut down the Bills’ offense. They held Josh Allen to 16 of 29 passing for only 180 yards. Baltimore allowed just three third-down conversions on 13 attempts in this game, sacked Allen three times, and had five tackles for loss. On the season, they rank 1st in rushing yards allowed per game, allowing only 57.8 yards per game, and 8th in sacks with 13. If they can play better against the pass, allowing 257.5 passing yards per game which is 28th in the NFL, this team is going to be a tough out.
Cincinnati Bengals
The Cincinnati Bengals are coming off getting their first win of the season last week against the Carolina Panthers. The Bengals beat the Panthers 34-24 behind a solid game from Joe Burrow. Burrow completed 22 of 31 passes for 232 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Rookie runningback Chase Brown had his best game of the season, with 15 rushes for 80 yards and two touchdowns. Ja’Marr Chase was held to only three catches, however, he has 85 yards, including an 83-yard touchdown catch.
Defensively, this team leaves much to be desired. They rank 27th in points allowed with 26, 25th in rushing yards allowed per game with 145.5, allowed 12 offensive touchdowns which is 25th, and only have five sacks on the season which is 30th in the NFL. They have their hands full this week against the number one rushing team in the NFL and a team they have not had success against. If there is hope for the Bengals, Baltimore has a secondary that Cincy could take advantage of.
Prediction
The Baltimore Ravens are going to win this game and cover the spread against the Cincinnati Bengals. Lamar Jackson has dominated this matchup in his career with a record of 8-2 against the Bengals. I expect Derrick Henry to keep Joe Burrow on the sideline and shorten this game. The Ravens will rush for more than 200 yards on Sunday and cruise to a win over the Bengals. Although the Bengals have the firepower to make it interesting, Burrow will be watching the majority of the game on the sideline.
Final Pick
Baltimore Ravens -2.5 (-110)
