Sacramento Kings vs San Antonio Spurs Preview, Prediction and Odds| February 22 2024

Sacramento Kings

The Sacramento Kings (31-23) host the San Antonio Spurs (11-44)  in a late Thursday night game. Both teams are 1-1 in their last two games. But that’s where the comparisons stop. The hosts sit in eighth in the West. They look to climb the rankings and are some people’s sleeper pick to make some noise come playoff time.

On the other side, the visitors build for their future. Additionally, that future looks radiantly bright with one of the premiere young talents. However, it has been a frustrating season to watch unfold as he often is the sole source of basketball prowess on this roster.

Do you see the home team getting a comfortable win tonight?

Sacramento Kings

Sacramento has a nice nucleus. But they face a daunting Western Conference. The Sacramento Kings have the eighth-highest-scoring offense in the league. Additionally, they grab an impressive 10.3 offensive rebounders per game. While they are near the top in terms of offense, getting stops remains a struggle. However, they will look to play to their strengths and ensure that they out-execute tonight. They beat the Spurs in Texas by nine points in the first outing.

De’Aaron Fox is an explosive player. Regardless of where he is on the court, there’s usually a matchup that favors him. But Domantas Sabonis remains one of the more versatile players for the Sacramento Kings and in the NBA. Especially against a San Antonio Spurs team with as many holes on their roster as they have, their stars should shine tonight at home.

San Antonio has their future. But he’s not enough to tilt a game on his own. He remains one of the best defenders in this league. However, especially when he takes a rest, the drop off is instantly noticeable. Therefore, even when the number one overall pick plays at an All-NBA level, it isn’t enough. The Sacramento Kings should have their way for large portions of this game. But the Spurs may keep it closer than expected, at least for a little bit.

The San Antonio Spurs need another top talent to pair with their French superstar. Even though they have one of the greatest coaches of all time, the lack of talent and roster depth often proves to be too much. But Gregg Popovich has a plan for the franchise, and it’s the long-term approach. But the play of Victor Wembanyama remains an inspiring beacon of hope in San Antonio. However, tonight against the Sacramento Kings, they are outmatched. But Devin Vassell needs to be watched for someone to give a little scoring boost.

Game Prediction

I see the San Antonio Spurs keeping it close but ultimately losing to the Sacramento Kings by double-digits. While they’ll play them tough for stretches, the overall talent gap is too much to ignore. Additionally, the home team can attack the visitors in multiple different ways on the floor. Therefore, I see the over hitting.

However, the San Antonio Spurs will at best hang with the home side for three quarters. They are too young and inexperienced at this point and I am comfortable taking the Sacramento Kings against the spread. While an upset would likely involve a spectacular highlight video from Wembanyama, I don’t see that happening tonight.

Final Pick

Sacramento Kings -9.5 and Over 242
