Stade Brestois 29 (Brest) and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) will look to advance in the Coupe de France today. This matchup is interesting as both sides have proven to be among the best in French soccer. However, PSG had the edge today, as they should, as they have been consistently better throughout the season.
Luckily, the two sides have recently faced each other. On January 29, the two sides ended in a 2-2 draw in the French capital. Although it ended with a sending-off for PSG at the end, both sides deserved the point on that day. However, Kylian Mbappe was largely held in check throughout the game. Will Brest be able to pull off the same feat again?

Although the gap is too large to challenge for the league title, Brest will still look to impress today against PSG. Additionally, they have a great record when traveling to other clubs. In their last 19 games, they have secured 19 victories, along with 8 draws. However, including their game against PSG, their last two matches have been tied. While avoiding defeat is good, they will be looking to secure three points today. There are some names to monitor for availability. Bilal Brahimi, Jeremy Le Douaron, and Jordan Amavi have all been ruled out with injuries. Additionally, Julien Le Cardinal is expected to make a return today from his injury, though he will likely be off of the bench.

Romain Del Castillo is the leading goal scorer for this Brest side and will need to have a big performance! However, not only does he score, but he also does everything that his team needs in possession and setting up others around him. Additionally, Marco Bizot has been the first team keeper, but in the tournament, they have elected to go with Gregoire Coudert. This remains a crucial decision as they may choose to keep with Bizot as he is in better form at the moment.

PSG will look to flex their dominance. Especially after a 2-2 showing not too long ago. Today they will want to be sure to advance to the next round in front of their home fans. Milan Skriniar has an ankle injury and is not likely to be able to play. Also, Nuno Mendes, Layvin Kurzawa, and Alexandre Letellier are dealing with injuries and are projected to be sidelined. Regardless, Mbappe will be hoping to have a better showing this time around. Especially because of the possibility that he will be leaving for Real Madrid soon.

Regardless of what is about to happen, PSG knows that they can’t afford to take Brest lightly. While they have won plenty of times, there have also been matches where they allowed lesser competition to hang around longer than they should have. Against a team that is closer to them in terms of roster completion, they will need to handle business early.
Game Prediction
The away side has a formula for taking care of Mbappe. Until he shows that they can handle how he is marked against them, I expect them to be able to keep up this trend. Also, when Brest goes forward, they should be able to take advantage of some of the gaps that PSG leaves behind. The game could unfold in several ways. This is why I prefer Brest +320 to advance. Although I am leaning with the under. However, this game can just as easily be an offensive fireworks show.
Final Pick
Brest To Advance +320
