Miami Heat vs Los Angeles Clippers Preview, Betting Odds, Prediction: Will Jimmy Butler Lead His Team Over The LA Duo?

The Miami Heat (26-23) host the Los Angeles Clippers (32-15) during a Sunday afternoon game. This team can serve as a litmus test for both sides. Defending home court is always important. But it comes with added importance when a talented title contender comes to your building.

While the Clippers have the better record, this Miami Heat squad will be looking to show that they are better than what their record shows. For the most part, all of the key players will be playing tonight. Although not crucial, a win here would go a long way for both sides. The Heat will show that they belong in contender conversations, while the Clippers can ease road concerns.

The Miami Heat need to take care of business. As expected, the defensive end of the court is not the issue. However, the offense can be one-dimensional and stagnant too many times. While their pressure stops opponents from scoring, getting points of their own has not been easy. Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo lead this team in all of the stats, but tonight they’ll need to match the all-star power on the other side.

Additionally, Terry Rozier will need to leave his imprint on the game tonight. Having recently been acquired from the Hornets his ability to score against the Clippers guards will be important tonight. Also, a sleeper breakout player to watch for his Tyler Herro. Despite averaging a little over 20 points a game, he hasn’t cracked 20 in 7 games for the Miami Heat, he’s due.

Los Angeles Clippers

Points: 118.5

Points Allowed: 112.0

Field Goal Efficiency: 43.5/87.7 for 49.6%

Three-Pont Efficiency: 13.0/33.1 for 39.4%

Free Throw Efficiency: 18.4/22.7 for 81.1%

Rebounds: 10.4 Offensive, 32.9 Defensive, 43.3 Combined

Assists: 26.2

Steals: 8.1

Blocks: 5.4

Turnovers: 12.0

Field Goal Efficiency Against: 41.0/88.4 for 46.3%

Three-Point Efficiency Against: 12.5/35.2 for 35.6%

Free Throw Efficiency Against: 17.6/22.6 for 77.5%

Rebounds Against: 11.1 Offensive, 30.5 Defensive, 41.6 Combined

The Los Angeles Clippers will be without Ivica Zubac, but that doesn’t affect things. However, this team needs to find ways to get rid of the narratives surrounding their inability to win big games. Even though it won’t matter in the playoffs, regardless overcoming tests like the Miami Heat on the road are important. Regardless, a win tonight could be a step in the right direction.

Ultimately this team has been cooking, despite the slow early start. Although Paul George and Kawhi Leonard lead the way, Russell Westbrook and James Harden are shaping up the backcourt nicely. Also, Terance Mann is playing well in his role on this team. Against the Miami Heat backcourt, they’ll all be needed!

Game Prediction

Despite the Miami Heat being underdogs, this feels like too much of a prove-it game. Additionally, Butler and Rozier will look to impress and know how important this game is. Even though we’re still short of the All-Star break, this Heat team knows that they need to turn a corner, and fast! Meanwhile, the Clippers will likely make it close, but ultimately, I think this road atmosphere will prove too much. However, with Westbrook, the under is always something to steer clear of! The safe option is to take the underdogs at +4, but I don’t think you’ll need to.

Final Pick

Over 225.5 and Miami Heat MoneyLine
