2024 World Series Odds: Analysis

There shouldn’t be much shock at who has the best 2024 World Series odds. The Dodgers are a heavy favorite after landing Shohei Ohtani in the offseason. He is a part of a devastating hitting lineup that will win many games. The Braves are close behind and have some hitters of their own. From there, the Yankees and Astros look to be on top of the American League.

Last year’s National League champions, the Arizona Diamondbacks, are more of a long shot at +3500, with the 2023 World Series champion Texas Rangers being amongst the favorites at +1100. The oddsmakers clearly think last year was a fluke for the young Diamondbacks team, but they think the Rangers could make some noise this season.

Best Value Bets: Orioles & Mariners

This is the most fun team to bet on in the 2024 World Series odds. The Baltimore Orioles are a solid bet at +1800. They were great last season, even though they got bounced in the playoffs early. They still have Adley Rutschman and Gunnar Henderson, with top prospect Jackson Holiday likely on the way. Pitcher Kyle Bradish has an outside chance at the Cy Young Award. What you are banking on with this bet is the young players improving and the postseason experience they got last year being beneficial.

The Seattle Mariners at +2000 are interesting to me. One reason they could be a problem for teams is their pitching. Luis Castillo (+1200), George Kirby (+1700), and Logan Gilbert (+2300) all have decent odds for the AL Cy Young award. If Seattle can score enough runs, they could be tough to play in the postseason when rotations shorten. The best thing about these bets is that they do not have to play the Dodgers until the World Series.

Best Long Shot Bet: Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers could be taking offense to the 2024 World Series odds. This is a huge long shot at +5500 and in the National League. However, this is a team that won the division last year. They still have Corbin Burnes and Freddy Peralta on the mound. Christian Yelich leads the offense, and the team just signed Rhys Hoskins at first base. Top prospect Jackson Chourio will be expected to help boost the offense. Milwaukee surprised people last year and could do it again this year.

There are a couple of reasons why this team has such long-shot odds. Craig Counsell took the job for the Cubs, leaving Pat Murphy in charge. A manager change might be a good thing or end badly. The offense is going to be an issue all season. If everyone is healthy for the full season, they will probably be fine, but the chance of that happening is low. Their offense depends on a couple of players, which is not where you want to be. Still, this team might surprise some people and make you some money.
